When I released ICBM at the beginning of this month (April Fool’s Day, for the record, that was indeed intentional), I was reasonably certain that no one outside my circle of friends and maybe a couple hundred strangers on the Internet was ever going to play it.

I was proud of it, to be certain, I put a shitload of work into it, but trying to get attention on the Internet is like trying to— well, I don’t know, like… trying to catch rain in a pasta strainer, while people whip batteries at you, I guess? Trying to catch part of a wave in a Ziploc® bag while swimming in the ocean? Pissing into a giant swimming pool of piss and saying “Hey, look guys! Look at me pissing! Everyone, come look at what I’m doing!” and everyone’s like “Yeah, we get it, it’s a giant pool of piss, we know what piss looks like.”

It’s difficult, at any rate. I’ve been making weird stuff and putting it onto the internet for almost 20 years, but “a couple hundred strangers” has seemed to be about the size limit for the audiences that the things I’ve made have found.

Today I found a tiny mention of ICBMon a Hungarian forum devoted to military weapons on a thread about anti-aircraft missiles in Hungary. It just said: “Féloff. ICBM szimulátor. :) icbm-game.com”. I can’t find any mention online of what “féloff” might mean but the smiley face is certainly encouraging. What’s all the more encouraging however is that Hungarian is one of the ten languages I have found ICBMwritten or spoken about in. That’s a binary dozen! (I’m kidding, I just made that up)

I don’t know if anyone is even reading these GameJolt News Posts, but they’ve served as a fun scrapbook to document all the attention ICBM has received thus far. I am humbled and overjoyed and just thoroughly, thoroughly blown away.
