Important Announcement to anyone working on a project even somewhat seriously:

USE CLOUD VERSION CONTROL!

Even if you just occasionally dump the files into Google Drive, do something!

I just read another heartbreaking case of someone losing everything to drive corruption.

It's best to have at least one cloud backup and also external drive backups if you can.

I used to just use Google Drive, but now I use GitHub Desktop. It's pretty straightforward to get the basics working which is all I'm using even now. After this I'm probably going to add a copy of my projects to an external drive for extra peace of mind.

Also, if this has happened to you, then there may still be ways for you to to recover the data, though I don't know much about that.

This post is very different from my typical Blooming Darkness updates, but these stories always feel like a gut punch.

Outside circumstances and technical difficulties said no to me releasing it anytime this week, so next week... and if not then I'm done trying to scheldule things.

I made a game in 12 hours! Am I a real game developer now?

I'll continue to improve it, and hopefully release it here soon. Maybe I'll make it into a full mobile game in the future.

The Blooming Darkness is getting closer and closer to a real demo! Check out the page for more details.

EDIT: There was supposed to be an update on the situation, but I forgot to hit publish :/

Dive into the cozy post-apocalyptic open world of Critter Cove!

Gentleman Rat Studios (@GR-Rob ) describe it as “a little bit Animal Crossing, a little bit Stardew Valley. Maybe even a little bit Windwaker, too."

I recently restarted my metroidvania game, Blooming Darkness (old version demo is now playable), and I wanted to improve my pixel art skills for the new version. Would you say I've made good progress?

I pretty much just need to implement a more secure save system (it's just for the highscore, but still).

I might update it in the future (I have some ideas), but I want to get back to Blooming Darkness.

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.
