After more than a week succeeding the release of the bedroom update, I thought a lot about what I want the future of TJoC to be.
Since it’s shaping up to be much better than I thought, the main reason being is me getting help from a great friend, Phisnom, who assisted me to get the game back on the right track. His knowledge of gaming design, as well as having him as a “third eye” is really helping both me, and the game.
Things that will change.
No more early builds/demos.
Yes, I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and realized having these demo updates is only hurting the game, you may think it’d make people more hyped, but it really doesn’t and every teaser/announcement I make isn’t as special as I’d like it to be. That means that the next release for the game will be the final game, sometime this year. Don’t worry though! I’ll be sure to keep the page up to date with progress announcements and good teasers!
Teasers/Trailers
To follow up on the previous point, I’m thinking about both making less teasers as well as trying out some experimental stuff with those, I won’t comment further on it, but I’m certain this approach will be better and it won’t be like any other boring run-of-the-mill image teaser ;)
Name
“Reborn” is something I will be getting rid of shortly from the name of the game, I feel like it makes the game sound a bit “cringeworthy” and is really unnecessary. This will also most likely include a change in banner and thumbnail, although I can’t promise that. I’d love to hear suggestions if anyone has any!
Other important stuff.
CriticismI’ve become aware of the criticism that the first two levels have received, so I’ve set to make the Office, and hopefully the rest of the game, as original and inventive as possible, no Slender ripoffs or FNaF 4 remixes! Thanks again, Phil!
To wrap it up, I believe past TJoC lacked identity, it was mainly used as a game to experiment with, (TNaR rotation, free-roam) as well as it simply being a mess of random mechanics, mashed into a 3D engine to serve as YouTuber reaction bait. You may be able to see this in Endless Mode and even with the horrible state of the Living Room level.
From now on though, I’ll develop the final game, as a proper 3D fan-game should be. Taking advantage of the extra dimension and creating a game that wouldn’t be possible to make in Clickteam, Game Maker or a 2D engine in general.
Well, that’s the plan at least! :)
