The Let’s Go Jam is an anual jam, held by Iranian indie game developers who are throwing a national festival for Iranian indie games. Each year, the theme of this jam will be a country. This year’s theme was Japan. With that theme in mind, developers from all over the world have 48 hours to create a game. This jam even has some awesome prizes! This year, there were about 34 entries for this jam. I played as many of them as I could in my compilation video series, but below I have picked out a few favorites in no particular order:

Ninja Samurai is a local two-player game about a ninja and a samurai. These two have decided to become assassins and kill all of the people in a room. These people however walk around with a flashlight. If the flashlight area hits one of the players, they are killed and the level is restarted. The ninja has smoke bombs and throwing stars to help aid them. Moving swiftly by clicking the mouse, the ninja can throw stars to stun enemies or to distract them and stray them from their path. Smoke bombs are used to block off the zone that their flashlight can see. The Samurai has a sword which is used to kill the guards. This game is pretty challenging at times and really depends on teamwork. Both of the characters are needed to complete most levels.

Sakura Care is a simple yet amazingly stunning game about a branch of flowers. Some of the flowers randomly need light or water. If it needs water, the flower changes to a wilted, downwards position. You must left click on the flower to water it, using the God of Water, Suhijin. If the flower needs sunlight, it starts to bunch upwards. You must right click the flower to give it the God of the Sun, Amaterasu. This game is simple, but can get challenging as lots of flowers need attention at once.

Super Fukushima Dolphin Soup Shack is a game about a soup shack which is located next to beautiful bit of water. This water, however, has become toxic so the dolphins are jumping out of the water to evade the toxins. As the dolphins jump out of the water, you can use them to make soup! The player plays as the chef, who is able to jump around and chop up bits of dolphin that will then fly into the soup. The more dolphins that are chopped, the more parts that go into the soup, and the more money the chef makes. To chop up dolphins, you can click and drag the chef. He will then use his sword to create this bloody, soupy, mess. You can even hit spacebar to make the killing happen in slow motion!

Most Super Fantastic Happy Time Extreme Adventure Challenge is a ridiculious Japanese-styled game show-esque game with tons of little, challenging, mini games. The first mini game involves jumping on top of octopus’ heads to get to the other side. This may look easy, but the player must jump on the right part of the head to get across. After that, some simple dodging of huge rocks that are rolling at the play may seem like a breeze. Next, the player must go through a dark and trippy maze, while being chased by weird faces, to get to the other side. After that, the player must dodge rocks and smash their mouse to cross a huge bridge, then ride a stupid dino, who will kick them off, while fighting off fire that is coming down onto them. This game is very challenging, but full of a good mix of mini games.

Robot Rice Cooker Revolt is a 3D game about a bunch of rice cookers who have gained self awareness and now are trying to break out of the sumo wrestler’s dojo. The player controls the leading rice cooker of this revolt. The main rice cooker must search the dojo for other rice cookers in need of liberation- and trust me, there are quite a few. They must also make it to the end of each level. If any of the rice cookers get too close to a sumo wrestlers, they will be picked up and eaten. Soon, these rice cookers get to areas with fire pits in them. These fires are a great way to get rid of sumo wrestlers, though if the rice cookers also fall in, they fall to their fiery death. Defeat the sumo wrestlers, do not get caught, and escape the dojo with your rice friends!
