The MiniLD #60 is basically a warm-up jam to get people prepared for the main event, in this case the Ludum Dare. This MiniLD was hosted by Tim Bumpus. Developers were able to use any theme ever given for any past Ludum Dare! A second bonus theme of “what the Ludum Dare means to you” was also thrown into the mix. I recorded all of the games in my video compilation series. Below are some of my favorites, in a random order.

Into the Mountain is a 3D platformer based on the theme Beneath the Surface. You play as a traveler who is looking for mysterious treasure inside a mountain! There are six levels in total in this game, each with a key to be found and a door to be opened. At first, this game is just about parkour. Jumping from rock to rock, you find your way through the level. Over time, traps like arrows start firing, adding a bit of challenge. This game is pretty casual, but is fun to play.

MobEatMobz, based on the theme Minimalism, has you playing a red-scarf wearing cat. This cat is able to jump around, avoid spikes, wall jump, and make it to the star-like portal at the end of each level. At first, these rage-inducing levels are pretty simple, but then things change. You’ll encounter trails of little white stars. By pressing Z, you can transform into Pac Man and eat the stars. Pac Man is able to float instead of being restricted to the platforms. You can only be Pac Man for a limited amount of time, unless you eat those stars! Though this game has pretty simple graphics, it is guaranteed to challenge you!

Plunder!, a beautiful game using the theme Islands, has you pillaging dock-side towns! A green arrow directs your ship towards towns full of loot. Once you are at their dock, you must hang around while your ship’s crew raids the town, indicated by a green box which dissipates. Once you have robbed the town for all they had, you must move onto the next place the arrow leads you. Over time, other ships find out what you are doing. They are not prepared to stand by and let their towns be wrecked by some pirates! You must shoot cannonballs at ships that are doing the exact same thing to you. How many places can you raid before your ship is sunk?

THANKS Simulator is a hilarious “Game of the Movie” themed game about being stranded on an island, inspired by the movie Cast Away. You, Tom Hanks, are lost at sea with only a raft to control. Your plane has crashed and islands dot the surrounding water. Some islands have people on them that you can see from your raft. Others have mysterious objects that need some investigation. Upon reaching an island, you are able to interact with the people or objects found there. Some people are from your group of travelers, while others are strangers who you must risk taking aboard. If the raft gets over-loaded, then you might have to throw something overboard. If you play your cards right, you might even be able to make it back home.

VRX.exe takes virus removal to a whole new level. You and your father run a computer repair service. One of the things you both specialize in is removing viruses. To remove a virus from a computer, you must go inside the computer and fight the virus at its source! Each computer is almost like an endless dungeon, where you can go from room to room destroying the viruses in them. These viruses are not going to leave silently. They will attempt to violently attack you back. Be careful where you shoot, though, because sometimes the bullets can end up hurting you.

Cat Cop is a black and white, point and click game where you play as a detective cat. Cat Cop used to be a big time detective, but has not had a case in forever. Today is his lucky break: he has been handed a case at the Museum of Cational History. The mummy of the great pharaoh, King Meowses, has been stolen! Not only is this game full of facts about egypt, but it also has funny cat puns.
