The MiniLD #62 is basically a warm-up jam to get people prepared for the main event, in this case the Ludum Dare. This MiniLD was hosted by Zatyka. The theme for this jam was “Final Boss”. I recorded all of the games in my video compilation series. Below are some of my favorites, in a random order.

Jonga is a physics-based fighting game that tests your hand -eye coordination. In this game you are able to pick from three weapons: your fists, a sword and shield, or a spear. Then you must fight your opponent to the death. Using “wasd” for one hand and arrow keys for the other, flail your arms around to hit your enemy. You can play against the game’s AI or, if you have a controller, against a friend. You must bash your weapon of choice over and over again into the other opponent. This game is fairly simple and quite short, but the movement of the characters adds so much to the fighting in this game.

Saw per Lot is a unique platformer where your character has a giant saw. This huge saw is going to help you out on your journey. You are able to control whether it is ahead of you, on top of you, under you, or behind you. You can also fire this saw out at enemies. This powerful saw will be used to kill enemies, block bullets, help you climb walls, give you a jump boost and help you walk over dangerous blocks. With it, you must make your way through a couple of levels of enemies. Each area of a level requires you to use the saw in different way. Perfect the controls of the game, as soon you will be facing a challenging boss. Will you be able to beat him?

Shoot The Red Square is a simplistic bullet hell that puts you right into the boss battle. You start off playing this game against the final boss - a huge red square. This square will shoot huge bullets and bits of wall, but is quite easy to kill. After you have shot the square to death it transforms into a new square - shooting quite differently. With each kill, this boss becomes more difficult. Its bullet patterns will become more intense and it will attempt to trap you in bits of wall. Power ups are dotted around the level to help you out: increasing your bullets fired, making them explode, or just making them faster - though they only help for a limited amount of time. Try to kill all of the bosses and win this challenging game.

Battle of Og’Murh is a beautiful game that takes you to the end of an epic journey. You have been tracking an evil ogre warlord and his clan, who have been pillaging villages far and wide. To avenge your village and stop this ogre, you are going to kill him at his home. This epic boss is quite strong and will take a lot to kill. You have a sword and the ability to roll away quickly, to dodge, but will it be enough? The ogre will call upon his clan, people who are skilled in archery, to help kill you. Each hit of the warlord’s giant bat will cause extreme amounts of damage to you. Can you restore peace to the villages?

Child Hood is a super humorous game about a bunch of toddlers in a gang! M.C., a five year old, rules the hood with a huge gang of toddlers. You and your friends just happen to be in his part of the hood watching a movie. You were able to stay out of his way, but he did hurt all of your friends with his BB Gun. You must now avenge them and show that 3 year olds aren’t babies! Each of the 24 levels are filled with members of M.C.’s gang. You must knock them all out with your BB gun before making it towards the exit. Some have BB guns as well, so they are able to shoot back, while others only have knives. Don’t worry, no toddler is harmed in the battles - only knocked out. Once you make it to M.C. the boss battle begins. Go avenge your friends!

Vulkain2 is a beautiful, epic boss battle that has you battling a robot boss! The Vulkain cubed is a bossbot looking to kill you with lasers! You must move around the screen, shooting your own blue lasers at this bot, trying to kill it. With only three lives, you must use your shield to reflect his lasers and dodge as he charges towards you. You are able to fly in the air, however over time it wears you out and you will drop to the floor. This small game is beautifully made and quite challenging. In the future, the developer is planning on improving it. For now, check out this mini game and beat the boss.
