The One Game a Month is a monthly game dev challenge that has an optional theme. This month’s theme was “maps”. Many, many games are entered in the One Game a Month challenge every month. I decided to play all of the games that were entered in the month of February in my video compilation series. Below are some of my favorites, in a random order.

Tales From Deep Space: The Cave is a very short game about your grandfather. You grandfather was out in space, surrounded by aliens, and thought he was a gonner. You must control him, both shooting and jumping on aliens, as you make it to the crystal at the end of the game. This little platformer is pretty challenging as one hit will send you back. The story at the beginning and end of the game, talking to a grandchild, is quite interesting as well.

Farm Manager is a farm tycoon game where you are trying to get out of debt. You have borrowed some money to run a farm! Now you must earn back the money you owe, in just a month, to get out of debt. Plant different crops that each yield a different profit. You need to hire harvesters to pick your crops and gardeners to manage the soil. Sometimes there are issues with the farm. This may cause your plants to die off faster or for you to need to use different plants there. You must adapt to these differences and try to pay back your loans!

One Way is a game about collecting packages. You are a fast moving car in a city of one way systems. With tons of busses traveling at extremely slow speeds, you must attempt to navigate around them to get packages. There is only a limited amount of time for you to collect as many packages as possible, though collecting them does add a small amount of time. If you get very impatient and try to overtake a bus, it will cause a road block, making that road unusable. Do not let these busses ruin your day!

Shewtipow is a platformer wher you must colect gems that are being stolen by evil creatures! Evil creatures have found their way into your home by using weird portals. They have decided to start stealing all your shiny gold gems. You must collect these gems faster in an attempt to fill your bar with their liquid. Your bar is always dripping, so you must hurry. With only one life, use your gun often and try to stay alive.

Space Bar is a challenging space shooter full of random enemies. Different enemies are coming towards you - you must shoot back and kill them before they destroy you. With only one life, this is not as easy as it seems. The game itself is in a small rectangular window. This window moves slightly when hit by floating wreckage, or shakes when you use bombs. Bombs clear the whole screen of enemies. Kill off as many random, strange enemies as you can before your ship gets hit!

What Do We Do Now? is a short four level puzzler with absolutly no clues or hints to help you along. Each level, starting with the title screen, leads to a door. This door is not visible at first but is hidden by the puzzle. There is nothing explaining what to do and each puzzle is completely unique. From making a box push a button, to making colors match each other, can you figure out what to do?

Doggy Dialler is a strange yet whimsical game about saving your brother. The earth has been scorched, leaving you and your brother in some strange fire-y dimension. Your brother has been trapped in a cage and you must defeat 9,999 monsters to free him. To defeat monsters, you must go to your trainer - a strange alien dog. You and this dog must type numbers, using the number pad, in the order they appear at the bottom of the screen. This will then kill the monsters standing in front of you. You have a limited amount of time to do this. Each time you mess up the number you must restart and will take damage. Sometimes the numbers are hard to read due to other monsters floating over the numbers or the numbers being scribbled upon. It is up to you to save your brother from this strange world.
