The Pet Jam was a jam where developers were given the challenge to make games involving virtual pets. There were many games entered in this jam, I recorded all of them in my video compilation series. Below are some of my favorites, in a random order.

Tagi Agency is a game about taking care of a little pet. First, you pick an egg. This egg hatches into a little colored blob. You must feed your pet, play with it, and give it books. Your pet will grow into an adult in about five minutes, as long as you do not do anything to kill it first. These pets take a lot of caring to get them to grow, you must provide that care. Make sure that you figure out what types of food the pet likes - some only eat vegetables, while others only eat meat. Each pet also only likes specific toys. What will your pet grow into?

Hello, Gary is about your pet rock, Gary. Gary is a beautiful rock that you should be happy to own. You don’t know much about pet rocks, but you can stick around and attempt to take care of him. Petting Gary makes you feel happy though he does annoy you from time to time. Soon you may feel the need to get rid of Gary, but Gary will always come back. Strange things start to happen with Gary… Go find out for yourself.

Ghostkeeper is a simple but charming game about a pet ghost. This huge ghost floats around following you - a small butterfly-esque creature. The game itself is pretty simple, you just watch the ghost float around and you can click and drag it by its nose. Triangles and other shapes appear when you click, making the game look beautiful. If you feel the need to go hang out with a ghost for a while, here is your game.

TRASHPET is the virtual pet that will clean up your unwanted files! You must feed your pet at least every half hour by dragging a file that you do not want anymore from your pc into the pet’s window. Depending on the data that you feed your pet, its stats can change. You can also unlock some mini games based on what you feed it. Get rid of the junk on your pc, while actively growing a creature!

Cartridge Friends has you looking after your old NES Cartridges. Remember all of your old game cartridges? The fun times you had with them. Now they are sitting on a shelf, unused and dirty. Sitting on a shelf is not fun for a cartridge. You must clean each cartridge so that it will work and play it. Each cute but simple game is fun to watch and will make the cartridge happy! Make sure you clean them correctly or else the friend will start to cry.

VIRTUAL PET is another pet that will feed off your computer data. This virtual pet lives on your desktop (and judges its cleanliness). This pet will request to move into different folders and talks to you about each one. It even creates poop files that must be deleted to keep things clean. You can kill off your virtual pet and create a new one, allowing that one to explore. There are a few minigames in this game like pong and some math games. You will even be asked questions about life and learn about other virtual pet owners. This pet will really get to know one of your prized possessions - your computer.
