Mancers: One More Floor
Devlog 1 : Humble Beginnings
It's been a while since we posted on the progress of Mancers: One More Floor, so we figured to give a little update on the progress so far.
Restyling
Before we made our GameJolt page for this game, we had a little work done already. For example; a dungeon generator, dungeon progression (so multiple floors in a dungeon you can get to via the staircase) and enemy and player movement were already in the game when we started the page. Since we were focused on making things work first, the dungeon didn't look very nice :
So we focused the last couple of weeks to give the dungeon a better look. Here's a first look at the result of that:
As you can see we changed from 8-bit pixel art to more of a 16-bit pixel art. It allows for more details in the sprites and is still pretty quick to make. And we think it looks a lot nicer this way!
Items and equipment
A whole new feature we worked on the last couple of weeks is inventory and equipment systems. In Mancers, you will be able to use items to regain health, throw them at enemies to do damage or use them in other cool ways we haven't thought of yet.
We made a post here on GameJolt a couple weeks ago, showing off the new items we made so far, if you missed that check it out:

As far as equipment is concerned, you can now equip three types of equipment; weapons, armor and trinkets. Weapons make you deal more damage, armor protects you and trinkets give you a stats boost. What stats can be boosted still has to be figured out though...
Anyways, the equipment screen also got a bit of a visual overhaul. See the before and after pics below:
Coming up:
For the next couple of weeks we'll be working on the following features:
The Mancers homebase, were players can buy equipment, manage their party of hunters and get new quests. Some pics of the new town might be posted on our page so stay tuned!
Armor shaders: We're working on a way to show the players current armor on the players sprite. It might be a little while before that is in though...
Combat: Now that you can wield a sword in Mancers, its time to be able to use it as well! We'll be working on adding combat to the dungeons very soon!
That's it for this devlog! If you're still here thanks for reading and if you want to see more of this, subscribe to our page!
Talk to you later!
