Megalia — Devlog #3 v0.03a Pre-Alpha Update

v0.03a introduces the first true hazard to Megalia, expanding the core gameplay loop beyond movement and terrain.

New Entity

  • Spike Spikes are Megalia’s first lethal hazard. Contact with a spike will instantly eliminate the player, requiring more careful movement and positioning. This marks the beginning of challenge-based level design, where avoiding danger is just as important as reaching the finish.

Gameplay Impact

With the addition of Spikes, levels can now incorporate:

  • Precision platforming

  • Risk vs. reward paths

  • Timing challenges when combined with Sand

This update pushes Megalia closer to a complete gameplay loop: Start → Navigate → Avoid Hazards → Reach Finish

Server Status

We are currently experiencing server instability issues.

Players may encounter:

  • Difficulty uploading levels

  • Issues accessing uploaded maps

  • Intermittent connection problems

This is being worked on, and stability improvements are a priority for upcoming updates.

Current State

Megalia remains in Open Pre-Alpha. Expect:

  • Bugs and inconsistencies

  • Ongoing system changes

  • Gradual expansion of content and mechanics

More updates coming soon.
