And time for my monthly update.
Today, I made the finishing touches on the prologue missions, well pure content-wise that is, as I still need to do some stuff in the combat routine and a few more things for these missions.
I can tell you a few things, as these missions do not spoil that much.
Jake will have to save a little girl from a cave. This is a classic cave dungeon, and was a good start for me to get stuff on the road. Even though I was using the same tools as I used for Star Story, getting things on in a new game is always quite some work.
Marrilona has to walk “The Path of Magic”, which is not that odd for the magician class character of the game, right?
Dandor falls into a pit and has to get out.
And Hando Stillor descents into a crypt to call to the spirits of old.
Basically all missions have the same set up.
two basic rooms with fights
a puzzle
a save spot
two more basic rooms with fights
a boss
the end of the prologue.
The big exception might be Hando Stillor who meets his boss halfway and gets his puzzle at the end.
Except for Marrilona’s all the puzzles are randomly generated at each playthrough. Means you got to puzzle it out on each playthrough (although the “rules” of the puzzle remain the same). Marrilona’s puzzle always has the same solution. This trick will be used on puzzles in the main game as well.
After completing the prologue, the game will continue with either Jake or Marrilona (computer decides) and the character you get will very soon meet the other and the true story will start.
Once the prologue is done, the game will also allow levelling up.
In the screenshot above you can see Marrilona being level 1. However this was played at a higher resolution. In smaller resolutions it may be possible you can only see the level in the menu screen to prevent cosmetic conflicts.
I will need to sort that out later.
I’m making progress, but there is still a lot to be done, before the playable demo can be released.
