Semi-stable release is now out.
Unless you report some bugs to me, we got now the basis to call this stable, and that is also why the game will now be “complete”.
Note on the GJ-API
As you may know http support will soon not be supported any more. This comes on a terrible moment as far as this game is concerned. The underlying LAURA II engine is written in BlitzMax and BlitzMax does not support the https protocol natively….
A solution for this problem is now under study, and since I need a solution for this in my future games anyway, this game can still benefit from that.
In the meantime I temporarily locked the GJ API from the game. Older savegames will still try to contact GJ but that may result into errors once the http support is really out of the air.
If you have an Anna account tied to the game which is in turn also tied to GameJolt everything will work fine, since Anna uses a php library for that which is not dependent on the limitations of BlitzMax, and Anna has already been updated for this switch.
If there’s any trouble what to do?
Well report it here in a comment, or even better on my issue tracker
Installing notes:
When you are using the client and you already have the demo or the older beta, the game will update to the semi-stable version without trouble.
Before you download the game, the current version number is 17.8.12-beta. Any number lower than that is outdated.
Windows: The installer will be uploaded once the game has been deemed stable. If no bugs are reported that will very likely be around September.
Mac: I will not upload a Mac installer, at least not for the time being. The game is installable with HomeBrew too if you have that:
Have fun!
