Added updates!
Thoro has informed me that this system is a very early first look and there's still a lot that's undecided (including how they'll handle if your boost is declined)
Thoro has also said the following regarding the intentions of this new system.
"The intention for this feature is very simple: for people to support themselves, each other and their community platform (us).
We wanted to give people tools to boost visibility for their stuff and this is just that. We're not seeing this as a money grab as who knows if people will use it.
But we are trying it out just in case it is useful.
If the data shows us that this is useful, we'll build it out more based on user feedback + data.
If it's not useful, we'll remove it. So, if you'd like your stuff boosted or if you'd like to support your friends--go ahead and boost! If you don't care for it, don't."
@pikawilliam11 suggested that a "Creator with money can also use this boost on artists with a few followers with amazing work. "
I agree, however I think in the long run those who use them selfishly will still be rewarded by the system, and it will cause the same problems in the long run regardless. Boosting small creators is also something that can already be done through other means.
