Due to the MS-DOS community I opened just opened, I'd like to discuss my very extremely old game Snakey II!
As you guys know as that I am 44 years old now (at least on the moment I wrote this article), and I've been coding since I was 8 years old, so I guess it's only obvious I did create some games in the past for MS-DOS. A lot of these games are either lost, or that bad that I really don't wanna damage my reputation with them, but I did find this nice game called Snakey II, which runs entirely runs in DOS.
I coded it in Pascal, and I am really thinking about releasing its source code under the terms of the GPL3 license. It's (as the name already suggests) a snake game, like there are many, but still, I did manage to give this concept my own twist. Don't confuse it with Nibbles, for starters.
Snakey II is a puzzle game. The object is to make Snakey collect all blue orbs in the puzzle, however, with every step Snakey grows and due to that you cannot visit the same location twice. The puzzles start simple (of course), but can get more difficult as you progress. Your progress is being saved, and although they won't count for your score anymore, you can replay puzzles you've already solved.
The "II" of course suggests this was the second installment of a game name "Snakey". The problem is that I don't know where I left Snakey I, if I ever find it, I'll see if that game will pass my judgment to be allowed to be put on Game Jolt. Sometimes old stuff you have can "rot" (files getting corrupted, storage media getting damaged, that sort of issues) you know. At least I am glad that Snakey II could be preserved, and it's certainly still, after all these years, a very nice games for those who still have love for the DOS era, if I may say so myself...
Now if you have any love for DOS games too, like me... Hop over, to the DOS community and make your DOS games known if you have any, or recommend us some nice DOS games, you know about. ;)
