Something I had not forseen was what an unexpected honor it would be to see ICBM written about in multiple languages. I have found articles in Korean, Russian, German, and Spanish, and it is tremendously humbling.
The best part has probably been the beautifully poetic phrases I’ve found when translating them all. From this article: “Ambos parten sobre la premisa básica de obedecer, y ambos juegan con el hecho de que obedecer sin preguntar nada conlleva una alienación que acaba destruyendo cualquier atisbo de individualidad.”
When rendered into English: “Both [Papers, Please and ICBM] are based on the basic premise of obedience, and both play with the fact that to obey without question leads to an alienation that ultimately destroys any semblance of individuality.”, it’s really quite elegant!
