Not much to share in screenshots, but a status update is in order #dyrt #rpg #freegame #gamejolt #indie #game


While you may already have seen that start has been made in the remake of Star Story, this game's revamp has not yet been completed. However content-wise only little stuff is added, so I hope you like the screenshot of the marshes taken from the Kthura Map Editor and thus not from the game itself.

Let's tell you how things currently are:

  • Technically starting up a new game and playing it all the way to the final boss, defeating the final boss and watching the grand finale should all be possible now. So all mandatory main game stuff is present now.

  • The special game mode "The True Abyss" has also fully been implemented and been tested, no more trouble is expected here.

  • The New Game+ however will feature some extra sidequests, 2 of them are fully active now, the others have not yet been developed at all, but that will soon begin.

  • The überboss Juggernaut, who was present in the original game (and also in "The Fairy Tale") is not yet implemented, although most of the sidequest you need to do in order to reach him as been completed by now. As this boss is only meant for those who want to try to really push stuff to the limit, I decided to keep that boss for last.

  • I still have several bugs to fix. However I do see progress in this department too....

  • Not yet all spells have been fully animated... Most of them are, though....

Soon an official announcement for allowing a select group of people into the closed alpha version of the game (which will be updated daily... that is every day I actually finish something effectively that doesn't hang up the game entirely (as that sometimes happens during the dev stage)). This announcement will also contain some details about this.

Now for some reason, on my computer I still cannot contact Game Jolt through the API with this game (my other games have no trouble), which is very likely just that the game refuses to let go the old connection data since the last giant update here on Game Jolt (and Google has not been my friend on trying to get that data flushed), since you don't have that data cached the API should just work for you, but it disables me from testing stuff (now since the game has an in-game achievement system and merely communicates with Game Jolt whenever you attain an achievement in order to make the achievements appear here as trophies as well, I can at least still test if the achievements themselves are awarded at their appropriate times). (I already talked to @YLivay about this, but I guess he's as much in the dark as I am about why I suffer here, oh well. Oh, Star Story doesn't suffer b.t.w.)

So, it was silent on this devlog, but loads of work has been done in the meantime... It's just that the kind of work I gotta do now doesn't lead to much new content to screenshot (but it has to be done, nevertheless).
