Yes, you've read right. "Point origin - Update #01"
"Da hell that means? What happened to the previous numbers? WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM?!!"
Why allow me to let you into a little secret, as we advance into this mini update.
#01 Happy Christmas & new year & birthday & come eat with us & Nailing down Point Origin.
So, over the course of the past month, i have been invited to many an event. So many in fact, that i was basically stripped of my ability to work on anything Point Origin related.
...Talk about a perfect return amiright?
In any case, I am now back and free to do as I please once again, and while I was gone, I ended up thinking a lot about the state of this project. Namely why it felt so.. slow to me.
Thanks in part to all that time passed thinking, I ended up realizing that Point Origin : Sotml is simply missing three things :
- First, as it is a Story driven game attached to a original universe, it requires a universe to grow from. Thus, the universe must be introduced first before moving on with the SotML storyline.
- Second, the previous failure of the SML project, and the shadow looming over me after all this time preparing SotML was actually only due to one thing : The project was constantly changing, warping and growing/shrinking on a monthly basis. As such, to avoid such a fate, SotML needs to be "locked" in term of both Gameplay and Storyline, as it will otherwise spiral into chaos.
- Third, In order to perform according to my standards, Point Origin must also embed itself as it's own thing from a "branding"(for lack of a better word) perspective. As such, creating a proper banner & Logo is primordial for the game to be decently packaged.
All of this to say that, before we can work on "SotML updates", we must first build the Foundation upon which it rests, which is Point Origin.
..Hence the name of this update.
Now that you've caught up to my absolute genius, lettuce start.
#02 Point Origin : Genesis / Episode 0 (trailer) & Episode 01 : "Dreams of a Lonesome Father."
Over the past week I have finally started writing down the ideas I gathered during this Overbearingly long month, and laid out the Genesis project.
And it's beeg.
Point Origin : Genesis will be a set of Twelve original stories following a specific character within their own respective world.
Each sentence relates to a story.. Any idea of what lies behind those words?
Each story will last a single Episode of 15~20 Minutes and will, through it's narration, introduce each of the Point : Origin worlds one by one.
The first world will of course be, Nechauria. Since game production simply cannot start without it.
As for the first episode, Episode 0, which is soon to come to Cz Studios Youtube channel, it will be a trailer of around 3 minutes (max) which will kickstart the global storyline of Genesis, and even, Point Origin itself.
Following which, i'll keep you posted about the progress of Episode 01 :
Which by now only needs it's narration written down before I can officially start whipping the artist working with me extremely violently.
#03 Point Origin : The branding, The logo, The package.
Third and final thing, I have started working on turning the brain goop stuck inside my countless chaotic thoughts into an actual logo. (Which you already started seeing up above)
So far I am trying to figure out what kind of style I wish to give to each letter, but I think I'm slowly getting somewhere with this.
Hopefully by the time Genesis : Episode 0 comes out, I'll have a finalized product to showcase absolutely everywhere.
Conclusions, and What's to come.
And so we are done. As you have clearly understood, the big reason why i have struggled going about releasing actual content is due to Point Origin needing a lot of preparation.
Technically speaking, one could even say this game page is still too early compared to the work i need to put out Universe wise.
So noob dev mistakes I guess. Still, I am feeling motivated by my recent discoveries, and I hope you'll feel the same as well.
For now, work continues on preparing Genesis Episode 00 & Episode 01 , all while i continue nailing down SotML's gameplay and storyline to the wall. (And make sure it never moves ever again.)
As for the Logo, i hope you like what you're seeing so far. It is still an early concept, but i do feel like i could end up with something recognizable and nice to look at soon(ish)
So with all of that, i'll see you on a future update soon. As for the videos themselves, i'm currently re scheduling everything since i was thrown out of my loop 'cause of the new year stuff.
I'll keep you posted when new Cz studios stuff happens. For now as always,
I don't like you very much. But have a nice day anyway i guess.
