Hi everyone! Here’s what happened this week.
I have written all of the diary entries that will be present throughout the Author’s lab into a text file. Here they are:
entry1
Yet despite my efforts to change everything, Prophetbot has predicted that the Messiah will not even be born before the world ends.
Alas, there will be no outcome in attempting to proceed with my plans.
entry2
I have an idea.
entry3
I am going to artificially recreate our world for my children. Due to time constraints it is going to be much smaller without six of the major states.
I have a year to accomplish this.
entry4
I have begun work on the simulation.
I have gathered together some colleagues to help build a model of what we envision it to look like, which I will then recreate using C# code.
So far we have a rough sketch of the Glen and Barrens.
11 months left.
entry5
4 months have passed.
I have coded some rooms and designs into the real simulation and everything is running smoothly, except for one flaw;
the simulation, which I am calling the World Machine, requires the mental capacity of a real person to run properly.
I am using myself for testing, however it will not matter in the end since the world is for my children.
entry6
Something's not right.
entry7
I was testing the maximum room size of the World Machine today when a small cluster of... floating squares, red and black, appeared and collapsed a bridge.
I called Prophetbot to shut it down immediately and I am now investigating it.
entry8
Cedric blew up a fire hydrant today and half of my lab is flooded.
I should get paid for parenting.
entry9
The square anomalies are gradually becoming more common.
The appear randomly and destroy things, sometimes even kill the NPCs.
It is highly likely that they are simply being caused by the sheer size of the project, yet something is telling me that is not the case.
entry10
The artificial intelligence for the NPCs are completely done.
The NPC's designs are also completely done.
entry11
After careful research I have discovered that the squares are being caused by glitches in the code.
But upon closer inspection, the glitches are in scripts that I never even wrote.
They're too complex to be Cedric or Rue, and Prototype just sits in his closet and watches cat videos all day...
...could it be, the World Machine is... sentient?
No, no, that's impossible...
I took too much care...
entry12
No no no no no no no no no.
Everything is going wrong.
entry13
I hate the number 13 for literally no reason, so I'm skipping it. Cedric, if you find this entry, it is not a puzzle hint. Thank you.
entry14
Prophetbot has predicted the world will end in a month and I have not completely finished testing the World Machine, it's full of bugs and I have no time.
My only option is to give up and use what I have now.
I regret having to do this, but otherwise the outcome may become even worse.
That’s all of them!
I also decorated the Author’s lab a lot more, here’s some screenshots:
The green robot in the last screenshot is the last robot that I wrote about in the previous progress report. It’s called Cedricbot and it was a robot built by Cedric. I still haven’t decided on its personality or whether it’s tamed at all however.
That’s all.
Spasiba,
Samuel
