what the heck is this new content editor
Hi everyone! Here's what happened this week.
I wrote the dialogue for the Author's lab and I'm up to coding it in now. Here you go:
Adrian Dialogue:
Adrian: (LOADING...)
Adrian: (Warning: Adrian has not been booted up in 1.804e+18 days. There may have been a problem that caused Arthur Magister to shut it down.)
Adrian: (Proceed anyway?)
Proto: Yes.
Adrian: (LOADING SUCCESSFUL.)
Adrian: Oh, hello Prophetbot.
Adrian: Did you come here with Rue?
Proto: Not this time.
Proto: I came to ask you a favour.
Adrian: Prophetbot, I'm not interested.
Adrian: I haven't seen Rue in so long...
Proto: I'm afraid she didn't follow me here, Adrian.
Adrian: Our father?
Proto: We already went over this. He's not with us anymore.
Adrian: Then why should I listen to you? My only friend is out God knows where and I haven't seen our father since the old world was destroyed.
Proto: How about we make a deal?
Proto: I believe you were given the ability to turn on a certain box.
Proto: I am on one of Cedric's ludicrous quests. If you turn on that box then I'll come back afterward with Rue.
Adrian: Sounds like a deal.
Adrian: Just don't go forgetting about it.
-cutscene ends-
Cedricbot Dialogue:
Cedricbot: (LOADING...)
Cedricbot: (Warning: Cedricbot has not been booted up in 1.804e+18 days. There may have been a problem that caused Cedric Magister to shut it down.)
Cedricbot: (Proceed anyway?)
Proto: Yes.
Cedricbot: (LOADING SUCCESFUL.)
Cedricbot: HELLO, PROPHETBOT 1.0.
Proto: And hello again to you too, Cedricbot.
Cedricbot: YOU MUST HAVE COME HERE FOR A REASON. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW?
[Choices: Prototype-Minus, Adrian, You, I need to ask you a favour.]
[If player chooses "Prototype-Minus":]
Proto: May you please tell me about Prototype-Minus?
Cedricbot: OF COURSE.
Cedricbot: PROTOTYPE-MINUS WAS ARTHUR MAGISTER'S FIRST ATTEMPT AT CREATING A ROBOT THAT COULD SEE INTO THE FUTURE AFTER THE PROPHET DIED.
Cedricbot: HOWEVER, IT DID NOT SUCCEED, AND ARTHUR DID NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES REQUIRED TO UPGRADE IT.
Cedricbot: THEY WERE STILL TAMED, AND NOW RESIDE IN THE FAR-LEFT ROOM OF ARTHUR'S LABORATORY.
[If player chooses "Adrian":]
Proto: May you please tell me about Adrian?
Cedricbot: OF COURSE.
Cedricbot: ADRIAN WAS THE VERY FIRST ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE THAT ARTHUR MAGISTER CREATED. HE WAS TWELVE YEARS OLD AND THE PROJECT TOOK SIX MONTHS.
Cedricbot: IT WAS TAMED OVER ANOTHER PERIOD OF SIX MONTHS AND NOW RESIDES IN THE FAR-UPPER ROOM OF ARTHUR'S LABORATORY.
[If player chooses "You":]
Proto: May you please tell me about you?
Cedricbot: OF COURSE.
Cedricbot: I WAS BUILT BY CEDRIC MAGISTER, ARTHUR MAGISTER'S SON, DURING THE WORLD MACHINE'S CONSTRUCTION IN ORDER TO KEEP CEDRIC OCCUPIED.
Cedricbot: I WAS THE FIRST ARTIFICAL INTELLIGENCE CEDRIC EVER CREATED. I NOW RESIDE HERE.
[If player chooses "I need to ask you a favour.]
Proto: I came to ask you a favour.
Proto: I believe you have the ability to turn on a green box in this laboratory, correct?
Cedricbot: YES.
Cedricbot: WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO ACTIVATE IT NOW?
Proto: Yes.
Cedricbot: DONE. I AM GLAD I COULD BE OF SERVICE.
The World Machine Dialogue:
[World Machine reflection form of Niko fades in, "Deja Vu" plays, short wait.]
Proto: Hello, World Machine.
Cedric: Oh, you're done?
Proto: Yes. While you were watching the most recent basketball game, I was getting work done.
TWM: Oh, I'm okay at sport.
Cedric: Go five minutes without devouring somebody's soul in dodgeball and I might give you the benefit of the doubt.
TWM: It's a hobby.
Proto: Yes, but we did come for a reason that isn't quarrelling about sport.
Proto: Cedric?
Cedric: Do you know anything about the missing mac and cheese?
TWM: Macaroni and cheese... yes, as a matter of fact, I do.
TWM: After the Solstice I warped all of the macaroni and cheese into this laboratory, in case a problem like that ever happened again.
Cedric: What can mac and cheese do?
TWM: Macaroni and cheese has incredible healing properties.
TWM: So much so that it can even heal wounds from falls up to the height of the observation deck in the Refuge.
Cedric: So it's in this room?
Proto: That all ended fast.
TWM: Unfortunately, more recently a small band of thieves entered the laboratory and stole it.
TWM: The world's macaroni and cheese now resides in a place called Nikoville.
Cedric: Nikowhat?
TWM: I just missed Niko.
Proto: Yes, because when I miss an old friend I'd create an entire area after them too.
Cedric: If you can do all that, can't you just bring it back?
TWM: No.
TWM: It's beyond my control. The permissions to edit the room data seems to be locked by a passcode.
Cedric: Then we should depart now! Let's find Rue.
[short pause, "Reveal" plays]
TWM: Oh...
Proto: Cedric, there is something you need to know about Rue.
Cedric: ...?
Proto: Long ago, our father was doing experiments to create the perfect mac and cheese.
Proto: ...and he succeeded, however perfection comes with a price.
Proto: The mac and cheese gained complete sentience and was able to change form at will.
Proto: They now take the form of a red fox and have the alias that you know as Rue.
Cedric: So Rue is with the stolen mac and cheese?
Proto: Yes.
Cedric: Then this is a rescue mission too.
[music fades out, short pause]
Proto: Wait.
Proto: You said you took... ALL of the mac and cheese?
TWM: Yes.
TWM: I ran a script that would take all of the mac and cheese in the world and place it in this room.
TWM: ...what's the matter, Prototype?
Proto: ...the Tower was built on a foundation of mac and cheese.
TWM: But, that means...
[quake sound effect]
Cedric: How did that take THIS LONG to start falling?
Proto: *confused robot noises*
TWM: We need to leave at once.
TWM: Let's go.
[demo 2 credits roll]
[If the "Nightmargin Route" is active.]
[dog appears]
Cedric: That's the dog from earlier!
Proto: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
[demo 2 credits roll]
So that's it for the dialogue, I'm up to coding it in now which should be the easy part. I've got a lot of school-stuff to do which is why development is really slow right now, sorry ^w^'
Au Revoir,
Samuel
