Progress towards 0.0.6


Hey guys!

I post a lot on twitter, but not very often on here. I think I should change that, and with gifs!

It’s been about two weeks now, which means we’re about one week away from the release of 0.0.6, and I’m gonna give you guys a bit of a preview before the video goes up, just in case you’re browsing through and want to see what’s going on.

First off, there’s a new blink ability, as well as a Tesla Gun!

I said in the roadmap that I wanted to have at least three dodges at the release of 0.0.6, but I can’t for the life of me come up with another dodge that won’t take a bunch of time to create, so we’ll see what happens.

Next up, I’ve been working on a few random optimization changes, which include a lot of boring things to do with combining weapons/abilities/baddies into child blueprints of a parent, but you don’t want to see that, you want to see the new and improved cell shading!

It really does look nice, and the performance hit is waay smaller than the previous method. It also allows for neat lighting reflections from emissive materials.

The coolest thing about this update so far is the new particle effects, and missiles that I’ve been working on. Also, you can zoom your camera out now.

I’m getting better at particles, which means I’m going to be making cooler and cooler weapons as time goes on. Hopefully anyway, a man can dream, right?

There’s other neat stuff I’ve done like add models to existing abilities (evasive and defensive) and added a couple new weapons, but you’ll just have to wait for the YouTube video. :)
