Quick update!

Hey all! It’s been a while!

I just wanted to post a quick update today on what’s going on which Checkmate and where I’m planning to go to from now on.

I haven’t had a lot of time to work on Checkmate (and the time that I had I sunk into my new sideproject), but I’m going to “regain control” next week. I’m planning on starting out with the multiplayer - Getting the basics set up and have board mode working in multiplayer. I’m certain this will give me an amazing boost in motivation, which I should keep as high as possible right now!

Things I have to do before release include (but are not limited to):

  • Allow pawns to upgrade to bishops / rooks (<- I still have to decide on how I exactly want this to happen)

  • Updating the AI to have all the new features (<- Really slacking with this one because it’s super boring stuff)

  • Multiplayer! (<- Aka the cool part)

  • Finish the research tree + adding some more houses and stuff for higher tear levels

I also potentially want to add something like a bridge, etc. so you can cross water tiles aswell, although I’m not sure how I’m going to address it yet (make it temporary, have it stay, etc.).

Either way, I’m going to work on Checkmate again, starting next week. I’ll keep you guys updated whenever I make an interesting advancement!

Have a great day and catch y’all later!
