One year ago to the day we shared an article about the Conflagration Village, a place we hoped you would never have to visit in game: the dwelling the Cleansing Conflagration – a gang of pyromaniacal, murderous scavengers – call home. Though it may not look much at first glance, it is a place of terror, sacrifice, and depravity, where there are artifacts and effigies aplenty to remind you of what cruelty goes on there.

This time, we return to the location to draw a little bit of attention to new things that can be done there. Well, at least new as of the Gangs of Varnurud update, which added a lengthy questline to tie off loose ends and provide a conclusion to the war of the scavenger gangs of Varnurud. When you are on that quest, it is possible to do much more than the initial, perhaps slightly underwhelming skirmishes that are possible in Conflagration Village. There is even a unique reward that can be unlocked – as well as a veritable boss fight!

These sorts of later additions are fairly common in Vagrus. The sheer size of the game world lends itself well to the kind of layer building we can see here. In the future, we might return to other locations to briefly discuss their evolution as development progressed.

Until then, safe travels, may they be real or fictional. And, as always, conquer the wasteland!
