Howdy, April.
And what an April it has been! At the beginning of the month, you may remember me harping on about the game being available to play at an event called ‘State of Play 2017’? Well, to say that Shrouded’s first public appearance went down a treat would be an understatement!
Both kiosks we had set up were constantly full of players, with an empty seat rarely in sight. Each and every individual had nothing but praise and all thoroughly enjoyed the game. It was phenomenal to say the least! To finally see other people playing Shrouded and watching how they react to a situation, navigate traps or figure out a puzzle goes a long way in helping to make the game even more awesome. Plenty of feedback was obtained by taking notes whilst observing each player’s progress, no less directly querying them after their session.
From the feedback and input from players, a slew of minor refinements were made to the game - and sure, individually, these were seemingly insignificant changes, but when combined together they help make the whole experience considerably more polished to the end-user - and ultimately, more fun! So, to anyone from SOP reading - thank you for playing just a taster of what Shrouded has in store!
Beyond SOP, the game itself is coming along nicely. All mechanics and such have been refined - all there really is now is level creation and a couple of adjustments to the storyline here and there. Graphically, a few more cosmetic details have been added, such as erosion and chipped paint upon walls. Whilst it’s certainly a subtle change, these help to convey the age of the game’s environment much more vividly. The narrative has been expanded too, with even more player choice than before - all of which will ultimately determine the outcome of your journey. There is often more than one way to progress; so you had best consider your options wisely before taking the plunge. In the audio department, the soundtrack for the game has undergone a major revision in recent weeks, too! We’d rather not spoil to much there, but needless to say, you’re going to fall in love not only with the game - but its accompanying soundtrack too.
So, until next time, stay savage~
