Shrouded | May Progress Report

Hey folks, Crimson here.

Sorry for the ever so slight delay in posting this update! Suffice to say development is still motoring on rather nicely with Shrouded. Nothing too exciting to report this month; the vast majority of changes and updates are in the form of code optimization and a few small UI tweaks. Concerning the actual game ‘map’ - a lot of work has gone into revising Chapter 2. As such, new tilesets and visual assets have had to be redone for that area specifically. I can’t spoil too much for the sake of the story, but the overall aesthetic is much closer to the look I originally intended - which is a good thing obviously!

There will indeed be multiple endings to the game as I’m sure I’ve mentioned in a previous devlog already: A ‘good’ ending, a ‘neutral’ ending and a ‘bad’ ending. Ensuring the player’s choices and actions make a dent in their proverbial ‘destiny’ from early on in the game right on up to the final moments is a time-consuming process of reiteration, trial and error (much like the majority of the game’s development for that matter). We’re getting there though!

A couple of smaller areas have been added to Chapter 1 of the game - giving the player a bit more exploration to undertake if they so desire. Predominately utility rooms, bathrooms and the less ‘obvious’ type of areas you might expect to find in a Library. Granted Greenhaven Library is a haunted establishment after all; there’s a good chance you may end up regretting venturing too deeply!

That’s about all I’m going to say for this month. Until next time, folks.

Stay savage,

~Crimson

Shrouded | The Three 'L's

I've been 10 Years on GameJolt apparently. Pretty crazy. Shrouded's probably been in development for that length of time too kek. #spawnday

Happy belated new year. Still working on Shrouded, don't worry. Been saying it for nearly 7 years now, but hey. I'm picky, and want it to be right! Just been dealing with a lot of work-related bullshit lately: the joys of serving a major tech company.

So, I bought a Master System for my collection. Thought I'd clean it up internally.

Never mind Sonic.EXE. Dead insects, corrosion and bird shit inside a SEGA console?

That's the real Creepypasta.

Well... shit.

I'll have to dig through one of my remote systems. Might have an older archive of assets stored.

Like I said, the game's current build is intact thankfully - just the raw assets that are currently in the ether.

How far Shrouded has come.

(Old build on right, Current build on Left.)

And it's still going! We're almost there, though.

So. That's not good!

The SSD that had all of Shrouded's assets on it decided to format itself.

The source code and current build are still intact on GitHub, but the raw assets are on that drive. :(

Fingers crossed!

Ooof! That poll was SO close. Care to elaborate on your thoughts/opinions regarding your preferred approach below?
