I've been wanting to undergo the challenge to make a game for #DOS again for a long time.... Both a graphical game and a #textmode game.
So here it is.... STAR KILL! As the name suggests, fly through space and kill whatever you can kill.
Now I also made this for an MS-DOS Jam, but I am thinking to expand things a bit more. The current download requires that you have #DOSBox installed and know how to use it (although it may also work on a REAL DOS computer). I'm trying to see if I can wrap it up so you can run it easily, and maybe even allow that wrapper to contact the GJ API, so this game can put leader boards on-line. This is however still speculation and study work and no hard promises. Just some "wild ideas".
STAR KILL is released as open-source, under the terms of the #GPL3. The source code (The game is coded in #Pascal) can be downloaded/cloned from this GitHub repository.
Please note, this game is as #retro as it can get. No graphics, all text based characters, and the audio in #internalspeaker sound. This game was meant to make the #olddays live again. Make #retrodev live again, boys and girls! So don't even try to compare this game to today's standards.
If you wanna show off your DOS skills too, please join me in the MS-DOS Jam. (#msdosjam) Graphic game or textmode game, doesn't matter. Pascal, C, Assembler... Just make it work in DOS and it will do.
I hope you like my little trip to the past... Sometimes I still miss those days... (Dang, now I sound like an old man).
