This post has been sitting in my drafts for a week lmao.
Before we begin...

Great, with that out of the way, devlog time!
Yes, i did manage to mantain a promise for one: in an earlier post i talked about doing either weekly or monthly devlog posts. I have decided on doing monthly ones for the time being, since i belive weekly ones would be way too short in some cases.
Not much has happend this past month:
Let's get the important thing out of the way first: due to college taking away more time than i originally expected and the rest of the team being occupied with their own personal stuff (work, college, working on their own fangames or other's fangames, etc.), the demo release date has been moved from "uuuuh a month ago at least?" to "when it's ready".
As much as i initially wanted to "Scottgames" my way into finishing a project into a year or so, developing a game takes a long time, expecially when mixed with other stuff that happens in life.
I'm sorry i got your hopes up about getting this game sooner, i hope you can forgive my naivety.A new (and probably last, this team's getting way bigger than i originally expected) artist has joined the team: Turkenshtane!
I won't give her any work yet since she still doesn't know what the game's about, i wanted to wait to get the next build out before that.Speaking of builds, the one i released for testing in April was a barebones example of every game in the genre i'm going for. I'm not sure when i'll be able to finish the next one, but i'm predicting it's going to include the finished ui, the derelcits mechanic (at least for Malenz) and the upgrades shop. I've also started working on replacing the renders i've done in workbench with ones done in cycles now that i get a feeling with how they should be sized on screen.
Kind of a very small change to talk about, but i revised the wood texture two times. Here's the original one, the first revision and the final revision side by side (yes, there is a very slight difference between the second and third one).
I started putting down my ideas in drawings to share them with the rest if the team and ask for feedback. Censored them to avoid spoilers.
Made a community for the game, mainly to organize posts. If you want to post something game related for now you can do it in general. I'll fix it up for the demo's release.
Silly Tumbr posting shenanigans :P
And if i haven't forgotten anything, i think that's it. I post more fequent stuff on my twitter and bluesky so if you want you can follow me there.
As of the 5th of May, i'm unsure how much i will be able to work on the game this next two months. My college's hours have increased from 4 to 8 hours 5 days a week to 8 hours 5 days a week to accomodate a professor who arrived months late in the seconds semester and now has to catch up his hours in a month and a half. This also shifts the plans i had going forward for balancing studying at home and working on the game: having to spend way more time in class for the next two months, i will have to sacrifice the time i had left to work on the game to get ready for the menacingly aproaching exams oooOOOoooh.
The professor arriving late also adds a new exam i have to work for that i was expecting to be shifted into the next year, the good news is that y'all will probably get something non-CG related to try out next month because of this new exam :)
I hope you'll look forward for the next...monthly?...update and any upcoming teasers.
I'm sorry this is going to be a journey longer than i originally expected going into this, but i hope it will be worth the wait in the end.
