Hi guys…. I am planning to bring the treasure finding back to the basics.
Not that I was unhappy with Star Story’s infinite treasure system. As a matter of fact I’m quite content with it, as it really set Star Story apart from the classic jRPG and that was my mission from the start there.
BUT!!!
Star Story was to be a VARIANT on the regular RPG plays, and also set up to allow grinding of stuff more than usual as the focus in gameplay was more on the combat to begin with. The Fairy Tale is more of a classic jRPG game with a classic western fantasy story, and the story being more on the focus than the combat and stuff, and also meant to be to bring the classic RPG gaming back. In other words, we must have a classic approach, and that’s why I’ll have to “ditch” the system. Well, sort of.
In that perspective the number of treasures will thus be less than in Star Story, and I’ll bring two types of treasures.
“Treasure in the bag” - This is more similar to the Star Story variant. You never know what it contains, so no walkthrough can tell you what’s inside (only what is likely to be inside based on the Map’s database) :P Unlike in Star Story they only spawn once in the entire game and in the easy mode 100% of the random treasure spots will be placed in. In the medium mode that will be only 50% and in the hard mode 25%. These bags can contain either consumable items or money. They will NEVER contain weapons, assesoiry or key items.
“Treasure in the chest” - These are the more classic variant as we know them. When you see a chest, the item in it, is always the same, and yes they can even be equipment and key items. These chests will always be there regardless of difficulty setting. One tiny chance though is the money. The medium mode counts as 100%, the easy mode will then be 200% and the hard mode be 50%
(My motto for the hard mode was “U wil een moeilijk spel, u KRIJGT een moeilijk spel” - (means lit. “You want a hard game, you GET a hard game”. In more common English “If it’s a hard game you want, it’a s hard game you’ll GET!”)
