Truck City Demo v0.35 update notes


Truck City v0.35-Demo has just been released. This change log also includes changes in hotfixes 0.34.1 and 0.34.2. This is the change log:

  • Improvement: Upgraded Godot engine to version 4.5

  • Improvement: First run sped up, the game now includes pre-compiled shaders (20% speed-up)

  • Improvement: minimap colors improved to make factories and resources much more visible, visually appealing

  • Improvement: added level of detail models for containers; makes GPU frame time approximately 10% faster in very factories with far away zoom

  • Improvement: updated tileset for Oil and Space DEMO map, especially for one way roads

  • Improvement: performance improvements when using blueprints

  • Bugfix: blueprints system may not save blueprints used by the user, corrected

  • Bugfix: "Map never completed" may show in the objectives menu after completing a map and selecting to stay in the map

  • Bugfix: one way roads in blueprints occasionally may not be correctly built

  • Bugfix: rarely blueprints may be built on top of resources, other buildings, or out of bounds, fixed

  • Bugfix: some blueprints may print "unable to build this blueprint" after building it

  • Improvement: Camera angle changed, camera transition changed

  • Improvement: better translations for leaderboards

  • Improvement: improved look and feel of Leaderboards window

  • Improvement: added button to go to my rank in Leaderboards window

  • Bugfix: corrected tilemap for 2-tile production buildings next to loading ports

  • Improvement: Truck depot now shows information regarding incoming trucks and occupied and total parking spots

  • Improvement: Added encryption for records file, hopefully preventing or reducing cheating

  • Improvement: other anti-cheating measures taken to prevent custom maps to inject results on official map leaderboards

  • Balance: changed default traffic light duration to 5s (from 10s)

  • Improvement: factory window will show a cleaner interface at the frame it's loaded (previously might show outdated information)

  • Bugfix: trucks would select a truck depot by distance, disregarding priority

  • Improvement: changed default shortcut for blueprints menu to Control+B instead of B, so the window can be closed using the same shortcut without interfering with the user typing

  • Bugfix: blueprints with one way roads were not correctly updating the minimap when built

  • Bugfix: manually despawned trucks would still show their route on the map, removed

  • Improvement: one way tiles changed so right side of the road shows yellow marks and left side shows white marks (as is usually the case in reality)

  • Bugfix: clicking on log messages may also trigger clicks below the log too

  • Improvement: road menu items may be reverse cycled using the Shift+2 shortcut

  • Improvement: Key mapping menu sorted by function key

  • Improvement: Added translation for market menu

  • Improvement: Removed incorrect tooltip text in global menu

  • Bugfix: Information tooltip text window now resets when scrolling or zooming

  • Bugfix: corrected warning message in factory tooltip text regarding amount of outbound warehouses

Truck City Demo has been released!

Provides a preview of the game, including the tutorials and a demo map. The full game unlocks more missions, sandbox mode, custom maps, and more!

In Godot I added a short FogVolume which covers the whole map, then modify its density at night.

DirectionalLight3D progressively changes intensity and colors at dawn and night, and back again to white at sunrise
