Character Descriptions: Old Capital
Major Characters
Hope
The daring soul that descended onto Mt. Ebott to reject humanity's bleak narrative about monsters. You're on a mission to prove that these beings aren't the nasty animals that the outside world portrays them as. Your trip through the Underground is one of profound revelation, not only for the monsters you encounter, but also for yourself. Hope has the soul of perseverance.
Ragel
Ragel, the first monster you encounter when you fall in the underground. They provide a brutal introduction on how things work in the underground. They swiftly teach you about the fundamentals of your Soul, Determination, and how to navigate this strange new world. While Ragel appears to be helpful, they have a strong dislike for humans, which influences much of their interaction.
Hatter
Hatter, the second unusual monsters to cross your path, is an animated costume consisting of a gorgeous top hat and a long coat with disturbing buttons for eyes. This unusual ensemble is brought to life by a bizarre, yet incredibly charming ghost—a person with a heart that could only be described as cotton. You may often find them sipping tea with their colorful crew and the former king, Asgore. Hatter is a quirky, watchful presence in the Old Capital, bringing a dash of humorous mayhem to what may otherwise be a pretty melancholy scene.
Mettablook
Mettablook, a shy and rather awkward ghost, longs for the spotlight. You meet them in the Old Capital, and they will most likely join you on your tour in search of inspiration or simply a pleasant face. They'll be a constant, aspirational presence throughout your journey, rehearsing their shows and fantasizing about their GRAND FINALE, which promises to be unlike anything the Underground has ever witnessed.
Asgore
Deeper into the Old Capital, you'll ultimately come upon Asgore Dreemurr, the towering, compassionate figurehead of the Old Capital and former king of the underground. He welcomes you into his surprisingly cozy house, where he provides comfort, heals your wounds, and serves warm tea. He even offers the option of joining a tea party with your new friends. Asgore, who has had a tough history, is fiercely protective and does not want you to walk into a world that he believes is still dangerous to mankind. He's a monarch tormented by grief, desperate to prevent future tragedies from occurring.
Minor Characters
Napstablook
The gentle, yet gloomy ghost who serves as Hatter's assistant, and is his cousin. Napstablook is the one who carefully educate Hope through the complexities of managing monster encounters, teaching them delicate lessons on how to act, save, and, when required, fight. Their soft-spoken manner conceals a thorough comprehension of the Underground's unwritten norms.
Long Ears
Long Ears, an important member of Hatter's Party, is distinguished by its prominent, elongated ears. They are a dedicated member of the tea-drinking gang, frequently contributing remarks or quips during spirited tea parties with Hatter and Asgore. Their presence enhances the Old Capital's eccentric charm.
Mikey Kat
Mikey Kat is another important member of Hatter's Party. Kat is a cat-like monster who adds a lively or maybe naughty vibe to the group. They like the companionship of tea parties and contribute to the unique atmosphere, always looking forward to a good cuppa with the king. However, they often present strange conversation about another world that does not appear to exist towards you.
Head Monkie
Head Monkie is, as the name implies, a monkey-like monster who leads the monkey gang in Old Capital. They are a consistent presence at the tea parties, enjoying both the quiet periods with Asgore and the vibrant talks with the rest of the group.
Burgerpants/Burgershorts
Burger Guy is a man who works many shifts in every business in the underground. From working at Grillby's Hotel, to Spider Parlor, to even the corporate giant that is Television Land. Despite this, he tries to look at the bright side of life. He changes his outfit based on the region of the underground he's in.
