I’ve began making the ability to gain weapons in game lately. The idea is that majority of weapons can be gained at any time in game. You could, if lucky enough, find yourself with a badass giant ice sword after your first play through. Although with this said, the more you play, the better the weapons will and can be. So keeping your best sword for a later play through may not work as 5 dungeons later you could have a new best sword! This will be the same for the armor once I get the coding polished and tested it a few million times ;p.
Another idea I’m yet to implement is to unlock or ‘find’ a new material, which will in turn allow for new swords and armors to be found and used in game. The idea is you have a 10% chance of finding the first material, mithril for example. Once unlocked, there will then be chances to find mithril items in the chests/shops. This adds to customability and hopefully gets the player wanting to progress and play more!
