YES, creators asking for really harsh critique IS a thing, and should be the ONLY circumstance in which it is given.

I for one, decide not to enter my work in the metaphorical "character cruelty contest".

All dark aspects of my work like cruelty, death and trauma have a practical narrative purpose and are not left unaddressed.

The one thing that gets on my nerves more than when a work is considered "less interesting" just because the protagonists comes out alive, happy and sane...

...is when a work is labeled "not dark enough" to be interesting in the first place.

WHAT?

This is going to HURT my momentum of screaming loud and proud in order to keep the public eye aware of my work's existence, but sometimes it can't be helped.

I don't do "silent support" or "cringe culture". There is always someone out there that might need words of support, so I find it best to build and keep the habit whenever I'm online. More in article.
