STAR✪SOLDIER SONIC: DREAM OF FREEDOM gathered small traction in the Sonic Community due to being one of the most rarest and oldest-known Sonic fanwork to date, especially with limited-released in Japan, as well featuring obscure characters, as well having bizarre and dubious interpretation on Sonic The Hedgehog and its world that makes feel like a fever dream than reality, one could even say it's like a gaiden title even.

And the more you advance, the more weirder the game gets...
