Small Steps (working title)

A game much smaller in scope than my other title "Rise of Death" with a lot less planned for it, but still with ideas that are not out there.

You are the Son (I plan to do daughter option, but for now "Son" is the base) of a Noble Family, who hold the title of Baronet. Your parents however skirted their duties, held lavish parties, and mostly spent money to appear rich when they weren't. In your teen years, your mother died, then after you reached adulthood, your father died. You are the only one, no other siblings, so the responsibility & authority of Baronet falls to you.

You however wish to do better. You don't want to "appear rich", you want to become rich. You don't want to forgo your duties, you want to fulfill them.

Why are you so different? Why didn't their influence affect you? Because you are not from this world, you remember your former life before you were reborn into this one.

So you want to do better than your parents, easy right? Not exactly. Your family was able to keep their position in the court, as they never gave the crown reason to remove your family. However, given their poor spending choices, the only servant your family has is there not out of obligation, but mostly because he volunteered out of pity. Your family has no Retainers. No guards. Your general respect from your citizens is nil at best. And your wealth is practically non-existent. On top of that, there's hardly anything that help your region grow beyond it's current state.

You will have to gather up the funds & resources yourself. You do know how to fight & hunt, as your family's servant taught you most of what you know. If you are to hire guards, you will need not just money to pay them wages, but you will need to provide them with arms & armor, as well as training. And you will want to do this for every town, all 30 of them.

Then eventually you can appoint a Guard Captain for each town, which will allow you to send patrols between towns to keep the roads safe from criminals & monsters.

What about Retainers? They will come to you. Unlike guards, they offer their services to you, they are your personal body guards, your elite, and will have authority over your guard captains, and more.

But how will you get to all that? Well, you'll have to acquire resources & materials, sell them to merchants to get money, then use the money to get yourself better equipment so you can go back & gather more with greater efficiency. Afterwards, plan your expenses carefully. Pay day happens every 2 weeks, you pay them a wage in coins to keep them working for you. But of course no blacksmith is gonna just hand over arms & armor cause you're the lord, you'll have to pay for it all. And once you get them the equipment, you'll have to be sure they know how to use their equipment.

Can equipment get damaged? Of course. So you'll have to also pay the blacksmith to keep the equipment maintained. If you let the arms & armor to go into disrepair for too long, then their equipment will break & then they won't be as helpful anymore, plus its more expensive to replace the equipment than it is to maintain it's usefulness.

There's more that can be done. But just know, you are NOT an Adventurer. You're not going on some grand quest to save the world from some evil bad guy. You are a Noble Lord trying to restore the prestige, wealth, and respect of your family. Who knows, maybe you'll get to start a new one? Maybe have kids? Only time will tell.

Note: I won't be adding in anything that says "you can only live for this long". This is a fantasy game after all. And while combat is in the game, your character can level up, gain new skills, unlock extra classes, it won't be the main focus of the game. #rpg #adventure #management #medieval #fantasy #isekai
