What do you think?

Good music. Solid combat, although I ran into some bugs. It's good for an early playtest demo. I like that each class is different and that you can make statues of your dead heroes.

Shape a legacy, hero by hero, in 'Through The Ages'—a deep roleplaying adventure where your choices cultivate a world teetering between prosperity and doom. Forge the destiny of civilizations through the lives of your characters, confront dark forces, and witness the evolution or collapse of eras in your quest to safeguard humanity's future.

This world was not always as it is today. These are the stories of those that came before. Consider one such story.

Fyre was a Barbarian with a serious temperament. In his wanderings, he came across a village being hounded by wolves. He fought off the wolves, and the villagers of Lostpine thanked him greatly. Another villager, a Monk named Jaylin, decided to leave her monastery and join Fyre. Together they traveled the land, defending Lostpine and other villages from threats. Before long, Fyre and Jaylin were joined by Garret (a bold scoundrel), Terash (a cowardly Warlock), and Celeste (a wise Chronomancer).

Lostpine, like many other villages, grew with the heroes. Walls were built, trees were cut down to make room for farms, and farms were replaced with homes and shops. The heroes faced many creatures that threatened Lostpine and had a few close calls. The small village became a bustling town, and in his later years, Fyre could scarcely believe his eyes when Lostpine became the capital city of the region.

Then calamity struck. The heroes were unable to stop a cult of Hyena-men from summoning an ancient evil, and when the ancient evil awakened, the heroes were all that stood in its way. They were insufficient.

Hundreds of years passed and the history of the land became fog and myth. A new hero emerged: A curious Runesmith known as Saphira. Her curiosity led her to discover a magical weapon that once belonged to the Chronomancer named Celeste. With it, she would take up the mantle of guardian. Her efforts to protect those she loved would eventually draw her to the ancient ruins of a long-lost city, and the evil buried beneath it.

Through The Ages is a roleplaying game where you recruit heroes and try to keep humanity alive in a hostile world. The world grows around your heroes, and if you aren't careful, it will crumble around them too.

This game features 10 unique character classes that can be further customized by a character's personality and ideals. Combat is rare but tough, and time constantly ticks away as your heroes explore the world, protect its denizens, and craft powerful items for future generations to use. As heroes age, retire, and die (not always in that order) new heroes can be recruited and trained to fill the gaps. If you're skilled and lucky, your heroes will prevent calamity. Otherwise, you may find future generations picking up the pieces of the world you left behind.

Features:

  • Weave a story of a world, its heroes, and its monsters over the course of up to 300 characters' lives.

  • Challenging turn-based combat.

  • Craftable items that are discoverable by future generations of in-game characters.

  • Build villages and watch them evolve with time. Their development is randomized, so no two games play the same!

  • Memorialize characters using in-game statues. Future generations will remember their name!

  • Failure need not be the end! Pick up the pieces of a post-calamity world and find ruins of the world that existed before!

  • 10 character classes, each with unique abilities, subclasses and play styles.

I apologize it's taking so long, but the Demo has ended up bigger than I originally planned. It is still a WIP but will be released soon.

Come playtest the combat demo!
