Demo 24/10 complete!! https://youtu.be/BoFbMUufCr8
I would say I had an overall good experience with it, even if it makes my hand hurt. The roster is pretty balanced, I didn't keep dying to just one character every time, though some are definitely more challenging than others. I think Eyeless Jack & Headless are by far the easiest, and Withered Nooby & Crying Child are not so challenging either (though I did at least die to them once). W. Darker is honestly really annoying, he can appear consecutively even up to 4 times, and it's more likely than you'd think. Maybe make him unable to appear twice in a row?
As for suggestions, I'd really like if the game over screen showed the time you died at, since you don't have much time to check the clock in the more difficult challenges, especially since it's only visible when you don't have any panel open. Showing the exact time in seconds on the game over screen would be even cooler, but just the hour is fine too. Also in my opinion, Weridos Redman should have some sort of indicator of if he's on his way to kill you, as a couple of times I saw the camera empty and I was unsure if he escaped or not, only to waste 15 seconds to find out that he did indeed escape and I should've begun a new attempt sooner.
Also, the game kept crashing a few times whenever I left it running in fullscreen mode while having another window focused, even when I paused it. It's a different error message than last time though, I'll post it as a reply to this.
Alright I went and played the game for a few hours, and it's pretty good! I enjoyed the camera art for the most part, and the characters felt very balanced. I wrote down my note's I made while playing the game, so i'll leave them here.
- I would make tips fade on their own to the next one instead of clicking.
- Pulling up characters info feels kinda clunky, maybe tint the BG black when it pops up.
- Grammer lacks many determiners, such as "the". I think the text is translated russian to english and iirc russian lacks determiners so it's understandable but makes things harder to read.
- Instead of being completly hidden, the interactible buttons on the U.I should be ghosted and or shunken.
- A few elements are way too saturated and make the visual composition messy to read, such as the vent panel's bright red rimming and bright green/white text making the point at which the player should be drawn to look at confused. I'd dim these elements but it's the artstyle and admitently a minor point.
- The office does not seem to have a celing.
- Dialouge is quiet in some cases
- Werido's Darker's info box has very confusing broken english, much moreso than the others.
I think I had some notes on a possible remake od this game, but I never went through with it. You did a great job polishing up the original scratch version while keeping faithful to it's intent.
Sweet game man!
Played the demo, I like the game so far! Definitely an improvement over the original. The visuals are pretty nice & the mechanics are challenging and (mostly) fair. I think there are some ways to improve the game further.
The character icons are still pretty grayed out at low AIs, making it hard to know at a glance if they're active unless you take a moment to look at the number.
The hitboxes for the panel system buttons are just bad. You have to carefully place your cursor exactly on the text to be able to click one. Since the panel background is all black, you should be able to just place a black box behind the button costumes to fix this.
Pressing the green flag resets all the AIs back to 0. Why? It forces you to wait out the game over screen if you're doing a custom challenge, unless you want to set all the AIs again every time you die. If you still to reset the AIs for whatever reason, all it takes is an extra click on the `Set All 0` button.
There's lag on the first times you do some actions in-game after booting up (opening the panels & switching cameras). This is mainly a problem in Scratch itself, but you can mitigate it by having the animations play at an extremely low opacity when starting the game, so they are essentially invisible but getting preloaded.
As for bugs, I once pressed the vent panel overheat button on the same moment that Devil jumpscared me, and his AI kept going after the game over screen. Also the game crashed 2 times on me, both when I focused out of the game to another window while it was still running. There is an option on the TurboWarp packager that warns it might cause crashes, so be wary if you turned that on.
I usually beat the max mode before commenting, but this one will take me a while longer (my current best is 18/10), so just have my gameplay of Music Hell: https://youtu.be/FpHOH_z0o14
