The game is set on a dark, chaotic world on the precipice of imminent destruction. A remote, forbidding planet that lies on the threshold between the material universe and the Void. On its battle-scarred surface, players can battle against a host of enemies in fast-paced combat – either solo, or leading a handpicked NPC warband. Beyond combat, players can explore a dark fantasy world on the brink of destruction, discovering lost technologies and encountering slumbering titans of unimaginable power as they uncover the secrets of an ancient star-faring race.

Plus, the game gives the player community the power to shape the storyline of this epic setting through our unique World Quests system – the game’s most defining feature. When players and their factions participate in World Quests, they will be writing the future. The story of each chapter in the series will be curated based on the outcome of these massive shared objectives.

Game Features

  • Shape the game story through World Quests. These special, game-wide objectives deal with the main plot arcs of the game, and many entire player factions must work together to complete them. Your every choice makes a difference and your glory – or demise – is now in the hands of you and your allies.

  • Rise to heroic status with Honour Points. Champion the cause of your faction in World Quests and your heroic deeds will be posted to the in-game feed, allowing the community to Honour you for them. Honour Points can unlock upgrades to your character’s skills and abilities, making you even more formidable.

  • Create and experiment with an intuitive Crafting system. Improve your armour, augment your abilities, display your bloodthirstiness with a gruesome hand-made trophy, or advance the cause of your entire faction by reforging ancient weapons of unimaginable ferocity.

  • Shape your combat style to your will in Paths. Choose one of four main spheres of warfare and commit wholly to one of these proud warrior traditions, or blend them together to create your own unique fighting style.

Prologues will be a multi-part series of Battlegrounds, where you’ll lead your own Warband through fast-paced combat and mission objectives. What’s more, Prologues will include our signature World Quests feature, meaning your victories and objective gains will advance the cause of your faction throughout Prologues and even shape the future of the story in Chapter I.

Today I made some updates to the Quests panel – which is now called the Progress Log. As well as showing the Quests the player has, it now also shows the percentage completed for the current Zone.

Ugh. This stuff sure doesn't look healthy...

New texture designs for the mysterious geodesic lines that appear on the ground in our first zone: The Thunderstone Geometries.

The Indie Game Showcase is on at the Microsoft Pitt Street Store in Sydney this weekend, and Dawn of the Tyrant will be there with a host of other great indie games! If you’re nearby, come along and give it a try! We'll be there on Saturday from 1-4pm.

I updated our old 2D helper NPC icons with new 3D ones. Much happier with these. More sparkles too! :D
