Hello!
Thanks in advance for reading this! :)
My name is Mark and I have a game idea that I have been working on. Excuse spelling mistakes and such, English isn’t my first language. Hopefully it doesn’t bother you.
Anyways, judging by the title you probably clicked on it because one of the keywords stood out to you. So here is the deal. This is my very first project that I’m working on. I have big things planned for this. This game idea revolves around a detective with supernatural powers. I’ll give more input on that later. Everything I’m doing here is done from scratch and I have no prior experience in game development, so please have patience with me.
GAME IDEA:
Alright, the game, as mentioned, is about a detective who has inherited some kind of supernatural power. Yes, this sounds very shallow, but… IT’S NOT! …I think at least… Anyways, the game takes place in modern times. I’m using the phrase “Detective” very openly. It’s all still early in development and almost everything is still subject to change. I’m the kind of person who gets ideas on the fly and doesn’t write them down, which arguably is a self-imposed flaw.
The detective, which is how I’ll reference him from now on (yes, he’s male)—is aware of his abilities and tries to use them for good. This, yet again, is shallow, but that’s why this is only an idea. The story will form on its own through the journey of making this game.
Now, because I don’t know what else to say here, let’s move on to the Gameplay.
GAMEPLAY:
Now, as mentioned, the detective has supernatural abilities. To put it into mortal terms, he has multiple classes he can choose from. (It’s been a long day chief, don’t mind the jokes. The only joke being you… Kidding, thanks for putting up with my antics… The fact you are reading this far means a lot so… smooch… Now go, my child.)
You can switch the class mid-fight. Currently there are three, which I think will stay like that. Why that is, I will explain later.
The first class is a simple melee class, like a fighter. There is no official name yet. I wanted to use a Japanese word for it, but I’m not sure yet.
The second class is a ranged class, not with a bow or something like that, no. I was thinking something along the lines of using spiritual energy to create blasts and such. Same with the first class, the name is still pending.
The third class is probably the one that will get the most attention. The third class is something along the lines of a spirit pact or spirit family. For example: you choose the Kitsune spirit. That will come with different abilities and such, as well as influence the way melee and ranged plays.
What kind of spirits I’ll add, I’m unsure of, but unlike melee and ranged, you cannot change a spirit. Pick one and be stuck with one. A way of forcing replayability.
Now why would you replay the game with other spirits? Simple: different moves and, most importantly, different story. The story will be linear, but can be different depending on which spirit you choose… AND… of course you can also decide against choosing one.
The spirits will be a big feature of the game. Such will be interactivity. Let your decisions matter. No matter what you do, it will somehow influence the future of your playthrough, either in a bad or good way.
The fights are going to be typical turn-based, but with a gimmick. You can make actions while acting… That doesn’t sound weird at all… Anyways, you can, for example, choose the action “Punch,” but while the animation plays you’ll have the chance to press an additional button to change the move—turning a “Punch” into a “Kick,” or making a “Punch” even stronger.
Along with that, you’ll be able to fuse different techniques. All of that revolves around a training system, to make it logical and more rewarding when unlocking a skill. Which means you can’t just unlock a skill by simply leveling. Levels will probably only raise stats, or will be completely removed, depending on how this develops.
There are many more things that make the fighting system more complex. I want this to get players to try different things, but also to be cautious with their actions. This text is already getting quite long, so for now I’ll finish gameplay features here.
Here is a list to mark all the important things I want to include:
Two different classes, able to switch between them mid-fight
A third class that lets you choose a Spirit to have a pact with
Act during actions in a fight
Fuse different moves
Intricate skill system
Difficulty
Many more things not mentioned yet (they’ll have their own devlog entry)
THE END:
So that’s it… Thanks for reading this far! You do not need to leave a comment… As a matter of fact, you don’t need to do anything. I might not know if you read through all my jibberish, but I’m thankful that you’re taking the time of your precious life to even glance at this.
I’m new to game developing, so this will be one heck of a journey. I have no prior knowledge, which does not mean I will use AI to create art, heck no. This, and everything that follows, is something I want to be proud of, and I’m thankful if you are just taking your time to read this.
With that said, I do appreciate comments, be it critique, feedback, a simple meme, or just questions. I’m happy to answer them, especially as there might be some things I have missed here.
Now… Now I’ll leave you alone… Go, enjoy the rest of the day and remember: always treat others like you want to be treated… smooch
Oh almost forgot....

Here is a simple picture too show that im actually working on it. Its bland, yes, but its something. I'll do my best too give weekly updates and too be consistent. The picture is just a proof of work, everything in there are just placeholders.
Now you can leave.....Have a great day! *smooch*
