I don't see why GJAPP files are required. I feel like you should be able to enter a game ID into the launcher and it should have all the info it needs. Or, even better, it should show all games on the site and you should be able to filter and search for games and add them in.
If devs are required to create GJAPP files, I feel that no one will use this.

The Jolt Launcher or JoL is a tool designed for gamejolt.com. It allows you to get free access to thousands of indie games, keep up with news on them, collect trophies and earn highscores. Further, it keeps you up to date with your games. When a developer releases a new update, you can instantly download the new version and continue playing.
JoL also provides you with a number of useful functionality such as automatically logging you into your Game Jolt account allowing you to be able to instantly use any application with Game Jolt Integration.
JoL is designed to be easy to use for both developers and gamers alike. Developers need only develop simple .gjapp files, which JoL will use to track updates and install the game. Gamers must get these .gjapp files and place them in JoL's directory inside the GJAPP folder. Restarting the launcher will cause the new games to appear in the launchers game view.
Don't see a .gjapp for the game you want? They are easy to make and you don't need to be the games developer to make a gjapp for the game. You may use the included GJAPPBuilder to assist you in creating gjapp files or may consult the documentation online if you want more in depth details.
Make sure you continue to support the developers whose games you do use with JoL by rating and reviewing your favorite games on gamejolt.com.
You may redistribute JoL with your own games. However you may not charge anyone for the use of JoL.
The Jolt Launcher is provided for free and will continue to be. If you payed money for it, ask for your money back. The Jolt Launcher may contain peanuts. The Jolt Launcher has shown to cause spontaneous combustion during lab testing.
