This is a great game so far, but there are a few ideas or suggestions you can implement in the new update.
One thing I wanted to mention is about the game's HUD, the design is nice, but it could be a little smaller in size.
Next thing is a minor idea, but maybe possibly add shadows underneath Sonic's feet so it could look like he's on ground. (same applies for other characters).
At Stormy Perecinet Act 2, the act transition looks a little odd with the boat gliding it first before the water. Note the ground spot magically disappears, with the background not scrolling down to the water.
The boss here looks cool, but one visual feedback I would give is to make him slightly tilt to the side when you hit the blue ball on him, so it has more a animation impact that he has tooken damage from it.
For the cutscenes, it looks nice for the most part, but a minor issue I had was the fact their mouth wasn't moving along with the dialogue. They do blink and such but I think it would've looked better when they talk with their mouths as the dialogue progresses. In this screenshot Lailah seems to be placed a little too far onto the ground, maybe move her up a bit, and it'll look better.
As for Peaceful Glance Zone, it is cool, but I wish Sonic's skateboard had more design to it.
As for this character, the design is nice, but animation feedback I would give is that her wings always moves regardless of the actions she is performing as her wings stop at random times. This can be done by making a separate sprite for her wings so it will stay animated along with her at all times.
This zone looks cool, just maybe pan the camera to the right so the bottom-less pit will be less shown.
That's all of the feedback I have, the only other major issue is the engine as it is janky.
Sonic center's himself when curling into a ball right when he gets hit. (sometimes he will go locked in air and you move him left and right for a brief moment, maybe pause the engine and make him properly fall and then starting back the engine again).
Sometimes his animation keeps going when you press a specific action (or the jump button) for a brief time before switching to that animation.
His spin dash sometimes doesn't use the correct direction.
The Ages Team Logo in the title screen could be a little smaller to be less distracting.
But other than that, great game! Hope to see more from this in the future.

what extension do you use for the effects, like the blur transition in the settings?
I was going to make a review of this but I got softlocked at the beginning of level 2. Day ruined.

Fixed a couple of things as well as changing the names of the credits, though, though I removed things that are no longer needed.
To put it clearly, Heaven Saga is basically a Sonic game I made with my high school buddies and took half a year to make and it contains a fictional plot of Sonic fighting demons and temporarily rests in Heaven to recover and returns back to Earth with stronger and faster physical abilities, which he uses it to defeat stronger demons. Pretty straightforward as you would know.
Let me be very clear on this one; this game is associated with the Christian religion. This was made as a counterpart response of an existing Sonic 3&K hack called "Hellfire Saga". So, you will probably find some things in here that would be silly or unusual for a Sonic game, but that was just as a response of one of my old friends where they got kind of upset about it and created this concept, and here it is. Though, there was a much older version of this which is fundamentally flawed but that was only because we were in our early high school years and still learning game dev and stuff.
This game you’re seeing now is a 2023 remake that was meant to be a little darker while trying to keep things decent.
Edit (7/21/2025): Because Ages Team is now shut down this year, I’ll try to keep this game open if people still want to try this. But also because of that, I don’t think this game is getting any new levels or bosses because I simply don’t have enough time to put in quality work for a proper ending. If I do have motivation enough, I might add another HTML package where it’s basically section of comics of how the rest of the story goes (and it’ll be made solely by me as well since I wanted to show more of my personal originality).
Now, there are 2 specific YT videos I don’t like that commentated on the older version. I won’t tell you what they or give you links for safety reasons. One of the videos spoke in Korea, too.
Both of those videos used quite offensive jokes and extreme profanity and ridiculing the game (at least the older version). I find it pretty disrespectful because they’re likely grown men ridiculing on a game that were made by kids.
Those videos are quote old, so might not matter anymore, but I would appreciate it a lot if you don’t use such foul language if you’re planning to commentate on this game.
Of course, I don't want to force religion down to the throats of other people. Not everyone is religious, so this game is mostly meant for people who are religious or who have no issue with what this game is associated with. There will also be biblical references, and keep in mind that the entire story in this game is made up; it's fictional.
A couple of people have been questioning the concept of this game, so this game is NOT for everyone. If you don’t like this, then leave this page and move on.
The Guardian Angels of Heaven have been protecting souls for millions of years. One of them was assigned to meet up with Sonic the Hedgehog due to his excessive fighting with demons and lack of rest.
While Sonic nearly has no problem with fighting demons, the Guardian Angle, named Lailah, offered Sonic to temporarily visit Heaven to sleep for a long period of time to gain eternal strength.
While Sonic accepted Lailah's offer and slept in Heaven, the demons were not able to tolerate Sonic's victory as they demanded revenge against him, by searching and obtaining the Choas Emeralds. And so, Sonic's battle and the war between good and evil continues as the story evolves.
