Description
Embark on a platforming journey with Shadow Touched, a 2D platformer created from my long programming apprenticeship journey. This project, developed in almost two months, has evolved beyond its academic roots into a passion project that I am committed to expanding over time.
Key Features:
Unique Dimensional Gameplay: Take control of Twilight, the main character, and master the art of dimension-hopping. In the normal form, Twilight has a single jump, a dash, and a basic attack pattern. Switch to the shadow dimension for increased movement speed, higher jump height, an additional jump, and three powerful attack patterns with enhanced damage. Choose your form wisely to navigate the intricate levels and overcome challenges.
Strategic Platforming: Traverse diverse and meticulously designed levels that will test your platforming skills.
Formidable Foes: Encounter the formidable Knight, your primary adversary in the shadowy realms. Stay on your guard as these enemies will strike if you get too close. Use your dimensional powers to defeat them quickly!
Checkpoint System: Shadow Touched features a checkpoint system. If Twilight meets her end, she respawns at the last checkpoint touched and you can continue your adventure without losing progress. Do not let your lives reach zero though!
Power-ups: Shadow Touched features power-ups that enhance the player's gameplay.
Double jump: Allows Twilight to jump an additional time.
Light Shard: Grants a 1-up.
Darkness Dispersal: Removes a percentage of darkness. The higher the current darkness, the more it removes.
Jump Impulse: Shoots Twilight vertically.
Speed Boost: Grants increased movement speed for a short duration.
Dashify: Allows Twilight to dash an additional time (has no effect in shadow form).

Controls
Move with WASD or Arrow keys.
Jump with Space.
Interrupt jumps with S or down arrow key. Holding the button will make the character drop down faster.
Attack with C or Left mouse button.
Shift between dimensions with F.
Dash with X.
Story
In a world divided between the dimensions of light and darkness, populated by shadow soldiers and light angels respectively, the eclipse dimension once existed. In this realm, the gods of darkness and light coexisted in harmony. However, this peace was broken when war broke out and a conflict of interests arose between the gods. The gods decided to divide the dimensions, creating distinct spaces and forbidding anyone from entering others' dimensions. Anyone caught violating this law would be executed without mercy.
It was in this context that Nightshade, one of the shadow soldiers, and Angela, one of the angels of light, first clashed as Nightshade crossed dimensions. Although the initial instinct was to fight each other, Nightshade refused to submit to the deities' strict rules. Instead, he proposed a pact to Angela: if she kept his excursions secret, they would not fight. Over the years, these forbidden encounters turned into a love that openly defied divine laws. After years of secret encounters, and mutual affection, they fell in love. They traveled from dimension to dimension, and eventually, they decided to have a child to unite the power of light and darkness.
The birth of Twilight, their beloved daughter, capable of using both dimension powers, brought brief happiness. However, the happiness was broken when Angela had to return to her dimension and, unfortunately, was discovered and killed by entities from the dimension of darkness.
Nightshade, a helpless witness to the tragedy, took his beloved daughter and fled to the dimension of light. Living hidden from everyone, Nightshade taught Twilight to use the power of darkness. However, she noticed that her daughter, being a mixture of the two dimensions, could not use the full power of darkness without hurting herself. In addition, Twilight, lacking contact with her mother since birth, had not learned to use the power of light.
One day, while Twilight was secretly gathering food, the angels of light discovered their secret hideout. A battle broke out, and Nightshade shouted to her daughter to run away and gather the eye of twilight in the dimension of darkness. Twilight, obeying her father's cry, vanished into the chaos, beginning an uncertain journey into the dimension of darkness.
As Nightshade ventured into the dimensions of darkness, the shadow soldiers were still in pursuit of his father. The hunt was not yet over. Will Twilight be able to escape and carry out her father's last wish?
