Alright, so I had an idea for a DDLC mod, and I hope a bunch of you find this cool!

Read below!

Alright so I have to make a quick disclaimer that this is in no way fanfiction, I also have to make a disclaimer saying that the mod will never come out as I have no chance at recreating the art style of the game, and also, I have no coding skills so... yeah... :/

Oh, and also HEAVY spoiler alert. If you don't wanna see it, I have spoiler bars for it! :D

Alright so, I love DDLC, you probably love DDLC if you're seeing this. But I always just thought about the story and how it could have changed, how it could have grown, how it could have gone differently. And so, this post is here to explain my idea for a DDLC mod.

Doki-Doki Literature Club: The new guy!

DDLC: The new guy is an idea I had for a DDLC mod playing off of the ideas presented in DDLC+

In particular, the idea of the whole game of DDLC taking place in a simulation. My thought when I heard that was, what if there were more simulations with the same characters? Different outcomes and events that could have existed if we just decided to go to another simulation.

In this mod, we take the role of a completely new protagonist in the form of a new MC (How the main character is referred to in most stories about this game.)

This new MC is a bit different than the one in the base game, he is much younger than most of the cast (The new MC being 14, while the other members of the DDLC cast are all definitely 18, not older or younger by ANY meaning of the word, definitely all 18, no need to search it up. Game theory fans will understand the joke here.)

He is much shorter than the rest of the club, being only 4'7, which is only an inch and a half shorter than Natsuki (The original shortest member of the cast.)

Just like the original, he's a guy.

And finally, he is ridden with social anxiety and problems with making new friends or seeing people in general.

All of these aspects are used to make a sense of difference and isolation from the other members of the club.

The mod starts relatively the same as the base game. It opens with our only friend at the beginning of the story, Sayori, walking up to us and inviting us to the literature club.

Since the MC is younger than the original, the dating simulator aspect of DDLC has been removed and replaced with the idea of maintaining a good friendship with each member of the club and trying not to get on their bad sides. Yes, that includes the club leader, Monika. She might kick us out of the club if we get on her bad side! Or worse...

So, we decide to walk into the club, and the introduction to the cast goes relatively normal. Sayori is the bright and bubbly one who invites you, Yuri is the shy and quiet girl, Natsuki is the short and brash one who doesn't even want you here, and then you have Monika who is trying her hardest to make you feel welcome and "normal" compared to the other members.

Due to all of the aspects I listed above, each of the members treats you slightly differently than how they do in the base game.

  • Sayori is relatively the same, she just wants to see you happy and welcomed when it comes to the other members. She treats you sort of like a little brother who decided to tag along for something.

  • Natsuki goes into full-on bully mode when it comes to you, making fun of you for being relatively short for your age. But don't worry, the more time you spend with her, the less she bullies you and the more she opens up to you.

  • Yuri is still relatively shy and quiet, just like in the base game. But when it comes to you, it's a different story. Due to her being the tallest member of the club, and you dwarfing her, she treats you sort of like a doll or toy she could mess around with. Most of the time it's playful teasing in which she calls you adorable because of how small you are, but as the game goes on, she starts making weirder and weirder comments about you.

  • And then there's Monika, she loves having you here. She treats you better than most members of the club, she lets you go first in most things, much to the annoyance of other members.

The main reason the characters act slightly differently than they do in the base game is because of another thing I thought of. So, we all know that Monika can change the sliders on a character in the cast to push them to their edge, right?

That's the main reason both Sayori and Yuri off themselves in Acts 1 and 2.

So, I thought, what if Monika could change other sliders in the game? Say, changing Natsuki to go from a tsundere to a full-on bully. Or making Yuri make the whole "treating you like a toy because of how small you are" thing become creepier over time. Or even worse, making Sayori think that you don't want her anymore and making her think that she doesn't even matter to you.

Day one:

Similar to the first day in the original DDLC, it starts with Sayori running up to you all excited and telling you that she wants you to join the club! She ends up bringing you there and you decide to talk with the different members for a small amount of time. You write poems, talk about things, and just enjoy your time at the club. Day one ends and you end up going home and preparing for day two.

Day two:

The same thing happens, Sayori walks up to you on the sidewalk outside her house and you end up going to the club. In order to help the group get along better, Monika has come up with an idea to make these little cards with a person's likes and dislikes on them, alongside some other information! She has information on everyone but you, so she needs to interview you. Just before she can interview you, the club ends up ending, so you end up going home. You go to sleep and prepare for day three.

Day three:

You aren't greeted by Sayori this time, you are extremely confused because she always greets you on the way to the club. You continue walking and end up at the club door, you open it and find the room is dimly lit with the light from outside. The only person there is Monika, sitting at a table waiting for the interview. She mentions how this is apparently a break day for the club, so nobody showed up. You enter the interview with about 15 questions, they are all relatively simple to answer "What is your favorite food, what's your name, what's your favorite book, etc." But as the interview goes on, the questions become more personal.

Questions like: "Do you live alone? Where do you live?" And most confusing of them all "Have you had any of those thoughts recently?"

She laughs the last part off as a dumb joke, and after the interview ends, you go home.

Day four:

You already know the gig by this point. You end up at the club, and Monika decides to task you and your favorite member Natsuki to go to the back of the class and clean up the closet. While you're at the closet, Natsuki doesn't even want to speak with you, she just sees you as sort of annoying. You keep talking to her and eventually, she storms off. As she storms off, you hear a grumbling sound come from her stomach, she must be hangry. After some more talking with the club, Sayori decides to bake a batch of cupcakes for the group. After she's done baking, the cupcakes mysteriously vanish. The club eventually ends after this, but before you can leave, you hear something from the room. It's quiet, but noticeable to you and seemingly only you.

You walk over to one of the cabinets near the baking area of the club and find... Natsuki hiding in there and stuffing her face with cupcakes?

She also seems to be crying, but it's very light sobbing.

Apparently, she stole the cupcakes after they were finished and decided to eat all of them. All she feels is guilt for stealing them from the other members, and she decides to explain why she did it.

She brings up how her father doesn't feed her at times, and how she has a very sad home life. She was extremely angry and hungry, so she just decided to steal them and have them all to herself.

After you stay there and comfort her, she gets out of the cabinet and ends up moving over to the corner of the room. All that sugar in the cupcakes wrecked her stomach, and she ended up vomiting in the corner of the room.

After this odd experience, you end up heading home.

And... that's all I have for this post!

Should I make a sequel post talking more about the mod idea?

My favorite #Scarygame is Bugsnax!

This is because catching the Flaming Cheepoof was a nightmare.

No other reasons for this being scary.
