Yes, you heard that correctly and clearly, BBMV isn't dead and will (at some point) be getting the El Donte treatment, in the form it's own v2.0 update.
Like El Donte, BBMV's v2.0 update has come from having so many update ideas for the game, so instead of v1.4, v2.0 will be a thing.
Unlike El Donte, BBMV WILL NOT TAKE AS LONG! 🎉
This is because BBMV is both a way smaller game and more about mechanics compared to El Donte, which required mechanics along with balanced combat, new bosses, new areas etc. BBMV only requires the schoolhouse (which is already made) for all of it's different modes and difficulties.
This announcement is long term, don't expect to hear anything about BBMV v2.0 until well after El Donte v2.0 is done. However, here's what to expect from the update:
Playtime Overhaul. Playtime is fine and works for what she is in the current version of the game. A major issue for me however is she's supposed to stop the player temporarily and allow Baldi to close more distance. Right now, her encounter works in a battle menu. While in the battle menu, Baldi cannot move and cannot close distance. This makes Playtime not too much of an obstacle to the player.
In v2.0, she will stop the player, but not put them into a battle menu. Instead, a skipping rope animation will play out on the player while she counts up to 5. This allows Baldi to close the distance, making Playtime a greater threat to the player. The Safety Scissors will now work as a shield for the player. When Playtime touches the player while the player has Safety Scissors, her rope will be cut and she'll run off, using the scissors.
"FUN" Mode repurposed to Nightmare Difficulty. I hated FUN Mode. Not because it was a bad idea or was shit to develop but because of how low effort the mode was. FUN Mode isn't really a mode, there isn't anything that separates it from Schoolhouse; it's literally just an extension of Mathematician. Thats why it's just going to be repurposed into another difficulty for Schoolhouse.
Schoolhouse Mode will now be called Classic Mode. Pretty self explanatory to be honest, Schoolhouse to me is too long of a name and with other modes now being added, it makes sense to change it to Classic, it sounds a hell of a lot neater and sleeker.
NULL Mode. The first new mode in v2.0 will be similar to NULL Style from BBCR. I plan for it to be a 1 on 1 with NULL with NULL not having any sound when he moves (obviously). NULL will be faster than Hard Difficulty Baldi, which is currently the fastest speed Baldi can go up to in the current update, however it's far from the fastest possible. The schoolhouse will also be dark along with the notebook dialogue being different (and obviously Baldi being replaced by NULL). There will also be a recreation of his boss fight, working mostly the same as BBCR, that takes advantage of the RM Battle Menu. Oh yeah, permadeath like Mathematician too. All the new modes added will have permadeath just like the vanilla game.
BRUTAL Basics. Unlocked (most likely) after beating NULL Mode, BRUTAL Basics is a faithful recreation of Baldi's BRUTAL Basics by EpicJake72, one of the first Baldi mods to come out back when the game blew up back in the day. Baldi will be at his FASTEST in BRUTAL Basics, faster than NULL in NULL Mode, questions will either be the same level as Hard and higher OR be something completely new (still a WIP). Playtime, like in the original mod, will do 10 skips instead of 5, The Bully is planned to take all the items the player has, The Principal will give you 99 seconds in detention when caught and Arts and Crafters will become active from 5/7 notebooks get collected compared to the normal 7/7. Unsure about Sweep, might have to double check how he works in the mod.
Death Mode. Again, unlocked (most likely) after beating BRUTAL Basics. Death Mode should be the hardest mode and the greatest challenge in BBMV. The AI for everyone will be set to either Easy or Normal. However, upon touching ANYONE and I mean ANY OF THE NPCS, you will die. This makes everyone a threat and will test your abilities when it comes to avoiding every character. Again as said before to balance this out, the AI is going to be set to Easy or Normal (probably Easy). Items are also going to be avaliable around the schoolhouse in this mode and BRUTAL Basics (unsure about NULL, don't know if there is any items in NULL vanilla).
Freeroam. Once again, unlocked (most likely) after beating Death Mode. This mode just allows you to roam around the schoolhouse with no threats present. This mode will include developer commentary and be an opportunity for the player to unwind and listen to the game's development cycle after beating everything the game has to offer.
New Trophies and Trophy Icon Facelift. New Trophies will be added to mostly accompany these new modes. I don't have any trophy ideas unrelated to the new content for now however that can change when development beings. As for the icons, they will be getting the same facelift as El Donte's icons. Expect the same trophy borders and the same design principal.
Revitalised Autosave. The autosave currently, my only issue is that despite only being 1 autosave slot, its still numbered as "Autosave 1" as if it was the first of the lot. The current autosave I'm working with in El Donte v2.0 will most likely be incorperated instead.
As said, this is long term; I thought I'd announce it early to reassure you guys BBMV isn't dead and also give you guys insight on what to expect.
