Devlog - Character Voicelines.

The most important part of making this first arc is hands down the voicelines.

Basically when a character speaks, 1 of 8 (or more) randomly chosen voicelines of theirs sampled from wherever game or piece of media from is played. It obviously doesn't line up with the actual dialogue they speak but it helps make the characters feel more like they're coming straight from their respective source, and it's also a nice touch.

For the longest time, I haven't properly gone out and fetched lines for characters, but that changed a couple of days ago.

I've gotten all the characters I need for now sampled thanks to music and voice splitting software and the haven that is https://www.sounds-resource.com.

For characters that are original like Eldric or have no dialogue like Gordon Freeman will be given special treatments. For example, I plan to have Eldric have different dramatic fanfares play everytime he speaks. As for Gordon, he'll play his "Voicelines", which are just him breathing combined with player sounds, that are avaliable on Sounds Resource. His dialogue will also be made up of things such as...

*Gordon looks at you with xyz, probably indiacting xyz*

So Gordon will never speak through sound or game dialogue.

A lot of these chosen lines, especially the ones chosen from Sounds Resource, are still in .wav format instead of .ogg. So now I need to convert some voicelines and put them into the game files for use.

More to come!
