Characters unveiling! Secret minigame?! Welcome to the latest PMC devlog!


Hey gang!

The game is coming along nicely. I was a bit demotivated at some point, but I've managed to get back on the squid horse.

I can't show a lot this time due to spoilers! But here's a taste of what's to come in PMC!

Character art & design

I finally had time to start working on the designs of the main characters! So, let me introduce everyone :

Here's the main protagonists and... antagonist? From left to right : Teph, Kom and Jess. They used to be a pirate team... What happened to them nowadays?

Riar is gonna be a fun one. An old acquaintance of the gang, they'll first be an enemy, but you'll be able to recruit them later on.

Here's the last main character : Maggie! Who is she? What is her power? Why is she in prison? Who knows... for now!

And finally, every game needs its mascot. Presenting : Poolpy, the pirate squid! I didn't plan on having a mascot. But the other day, while listening to some FF music, the chocobo theme started and then... voilà! Not sure what its role is gonna be... We'll see !

Secret minigame

The last part I needed to code. I won't get into the details to leave some mystery, but here's a sneak peak :

It plays like the turn-based combat gameplay part of the game^^ but it's a... sport twist?

Up next, I need to finish coding some things for the minigame, and I'll be able to start making some 3d assets !

Madeline is the main protagonist of the mountain climbing platformer, Celeste. The game has been praised for its visuals, gameplay, and introspective narrative. The game's creator Maddy Thorson confirmed that Madeline is trans in 2020.

Mae Borowski is the main character of Night in the Woods! It's an adventure game that tells the story of her return to her hometown of Possum Springs. She was confirmed as canonically pan in a social media post by the game's creator Scott Benson.
