Flint Blazer and Zane Blizz first met in the army in 1978 and grew very close, and ten years later they had a band with another friend they met named Carol Bolt. The band members used their last names to represent fire, ice, and thunder in their theming. During their run, however the record label wanted to replace Flint without exeption, so they all quit and the band had a short run, sadly. Now Flint and Zane live in an apartment watching rented movies. They would be offered an opportunity by Sai-Fai Labs to be used for testing for the Super Serem. Only because they also offered money and they didn't think it would actually work. The experiment was thought to be a bust, but the two's powers came eventually later.

Flint got fire powers, Zane got ice.

In 2013, (the time Barrel Man takes place) The Evil Legion of Doom found out about their abilities and offered them to join, so they became Blaze and Blizzard. (They also had money in the offer along with the possibility of making money on the side doing the whole crime doing schtick.) (they needed money) Despite their status as villains, they aren't really trying to hurt innocent people, they are just focused on the task.

Flint is more energetic and nerdy (explains his wizardlike getup) and Zane is more relaxed and focused.
