The Final Battle (Introduction)

The heroes stood amidst the red mist of this new plane. Horrific sounds could be heard in the distance, and the very ground they stood on felt as if it was living... barely. Suddenly, a voice called out from the air.

"Heroes…" it started, "I have waited my whole life for you. This world needs your help, but you are confused. Listen to my story, and all will become clear.

"In a time that feels ancient to only me, there was an entity named Giygas who tried to take the earth and rid it of humans. Four heroes, foretold by prophecy, traveled through all the land to reach him. He, however, was outside the land, and outside even time itself. I built the Phase Distorter, a machine that can travel outside time and space, so that they may reach Giygas. The heroes, including my own son, left to defeat him. After they left, the world felt as if it woke up from a terrible nightmare. They had saved the world.

"But the heroes never returned. I waited days, and they never came back. I became afraid. What had I done? I sent the heroes away to a place they could never return from, but they have surely perished. Who even am I to kill the heroes... to kill my own son, like that?

"My invention should've been perfect. They should've been able to return. I spent years and years researching, trying to find what had gone wrong. I became crazed by the research. Insane. I should have died in those years but my inventions kept me alive by unnatural means. But if it wasn't for those years, I would've never found the answer.

"YOU.

"All of you were the reason they died. You came from different worlds. Because you intervened with this world, you changed the future. You killed the four heroes from prophecy.

"But you can fix it. You can change the outcome. You can save the world from its demise. You can be heroes. All you need to do... is stand still... AND DIE."

After the speech was finished, a man appeared infront of the heroes. He looked like Dr. Andonuts, but he had been changed. He looked frail, almost dead, but he wore a crazed smile on his face.

Behind him, there was a machine. It was a metal sphere with a simple face. Wires and tubes connected around it, and its eyes were glowing with a dangerous intent. It was the Devil Phase Distorter.

The Final Battle (Combat Ensues)

The Devil Phase Distorter scanned the heroes, and stated, "STATUS READY. OVERWRITING TIMELINE. ERASING ANOMALIES."

Immediately, a searing pain was felt as the heroes began losing themselves. Slowly, parts of them seemed to disappear into neon particles. They needed to defeat this enemy fast, or they wouldn't survive.

The heroes targeted Dr. Insandonuts, hoping that taking out the creator might halt the machine. The doctor only sustained a few hits before he collapsed to the ground, dead.

There's no way it ended here, right? It's too easy. Sure enough, however, the doctor wasn't moving or breathing. The Devil Phase Distorter made a quick scanning motion, and suddenly, Dr. Insandonuts was revived infront of them without a scratch.

The doctor cackled and said, "I told you, did I not? With my machines, I am immortal! Just stop resisting and die. It'll be a favor to both of us!"

But saying that was a mistake. The party turned their attention to attacking the machine behind him. It wouldn't die fast, but it must be the only way. The Devil Phase Distorter acknowledged the threat, and attacked back by releasing some poisonous powder. Only Jeffeus was affected by it, but he was called by a certain item on his person. It was the Flash Camera, which he realized he never used until now. Taking a risk, he pointed the lens towards Dr. Insandonuts and took a photo. In a bright flash of light, the doctor disappeared completely.

It was almost as if the fight had paused, as even the machine seemed to be confused. The heroes took the opportunity to heal up and regain their wits. Only a few seconds after, Dr. Insandonuts reappeared and continued fighting as if nothing happened. It became apparent that this camera could make someone disappear for a moment, but it ran out of film.

The heroes began dealing significant damage to the doctor and the machine. As an effort to protect itself, the machine fabricated defenses. Suddenly walls raised up from the ground, forming a maze. But more than just walls, living creatures were made to attack the heroes. They resembled enemies they'd fought before, but broken or corrupted somehow. They also appeared to be stronger.

The battle raged on. Lasers flew from dying UFOs, and claws sliced from winged bears. The enemies, as strange as they looked, were dealt with quickly. The new walls caused confusion. Anybody within them lost sight of targets, and those ontop had to keep their footing. Eventually, the party was able to retain focus on Dr. Insandonuts and his machine. It was clear that the doctor was outmatched, so he pulled out his worst trap yet.

The Devil Phase Distorter projected bright blue lights onto the party. It began ERASING them all. Pieces of each hero began disintegrating. They could feel their cells being removed, and it was excruciating.

JEFFEUS was being erased.

Dr. Insandonuts spat out triumphantly. "There's no escape from it! In no time, the machine will remove you all entirely, and everything will be just the way it should. WITHOUT ANOMALIES."

CYRUS was being erased.

The effect felt like burning. Every hero was slowly being destoryed, including Paula. Everything needed to be put back in its place. In the midst of the chaos, Paula whispered a prayer, "Someone, anyone... please help."

JOHN was being erased.

Paula's call was absorbed into the darkness. @&^ heard something from the words, but it was too quiet to catch any attention. Paula's body was almost erased, but she whispered again. "Someone... can you hear me? Please, help!"

VIKE was being erased.

Paula's call touched the heart of @O^. It was almost like Y&U could hear the call, despite only seeing words.
There was one more whisper. "Someone," Paula prayed, "Save them. Save the heroes."

PAULA was erased.

But YOU heard the prayer. Will YOU pray for the heroes?

PRAY

CYRUS was healed.

VIKE was healed.

VIKE's pain burned into passion.

The heroes heard nothing, and they saw nothing, but somehow, the erasing effect ceased. The pain subsided, and the heroes became aware of their surroundings again. There was the party, there was the enemy... but where... where was Paula..?? Paula did not survive.

Seeing this, Vike became angry. No, Vike became FURIOUS. His blood flowed from his wounds, but Paula's sacrifice fueled his rage. Vike used his Vesper Charm and turned into a Nightmare Form. He cut at Dr. Insandonuts over and over. He knew the doctor couldn't die as long as the machine stood, but he could still feel pain. Passing his hand throught the monster's body, he pulled at the heart-strings. The doctor died in agony, but of course, he came back like new in a moment.

Vike's smokey body could barely keep form, and it only took one attack from the machine to revert him and knock him out. Tears and blood flowed down his face, but he couldn't let Paula's death be in vain.

One party member down, but the only person who felt fear, was the doctor. The Crashers were hopeful. They knew that, if the erasing was Dr. Insandonuts' worst attack, then they could stand it all. He had no chance.

Cyrus pummeled the Devil Phase Distorter. This battle had gone on long enough. It was time to end it. With one last punch, he tore into it. It sparked, and it fumed. The Devil Phase Distorter fell to the ground. The walls fell, and the enemies vanished. Dr. Insandonuts' infinite regeneration ceased.

The Fall of Dr. Insandonuts

The battle came to an end, and John quickly ran to help Vike. He fed him the Life Noodles, which revived him completely. Vike, feeling better than ever before, turned his attention to the doctor.

Dr. Insandonuts' body felt weak; his age finally catching up to him. He looked up to see Vike approaching him, fury still burning in his eyes. Vike grabbed the doctor by his neck and carried him to the edge of the platform. He held him over the endless void drop.

"You..." Vike growled, "You call yourself a hero. You say you're saving people. All you've done is HURT and KILL. All with a stupid smile on your disgusting face. You're no hero. You're a monster. You can see your precious heroes in the afterlife above yours. BURN OLD MAN."

Before Vike was able to drop him, John and Jeffeus laid their hands on his shoulder.

"Vike," John said, "If we can, I'd like to resolve this without killing him. His actions were terrible, and I don't forgive him for what he's done to this world. But he had a noble goal. His guilt and pain pushed him to complete it in all the wrong ways, but it's over now.

"His pain is over, and his guilt has faded. Perhaps, he can at least see his son again before his dying body expires."

"No," Dr. Insandonuts intervened, "My goal is complete. I've saved the heroes. I've saved my son. As much as I want to see him again, I... I don't want him to see his father like this. It's up to the Andonuts in the past now. All I can do now is remove myself. The final anomaly."

Before anybody else was able to interject, Dr. Insandonuts pulled a knife, and stabbed Vike in the arm. Vike bared the pain and dropped the doctor off the edge, maintaining eye contact while he fell. The last thing that was visible was his smile, still crazed, but no longer stressed. His body faded away in the void.

While this happened, Cyrus investigated the Devil Phase Distorter. An internal monitor read, "OVERWRITE 100% COMPLETE." So the timeline had been restarted. The doctor really did save the world.

The heroes were now stranded on the platform in the future. Nobody had a way to return to their own worlds, or even Twoson. It was then that a huge metal vehicle appeared in front of them, fire burning in its tracks. It was the exact same bus that started this whole thing. If it started it, maybe it could end it.

The Crashers climbed on.

To survive the Devil Phase Distorters final attack, I set up a poll for each player, in which they had to PRAY for their character in order to save them. Unfortunately, Paula has no "Player," and so did not survive.
I changed it to be the reader praying for the heroes in this article because I thought it would be more fitting, while being meta. Sorry if it impeded on your immersion at all.
But with that, there is only one more post in the series. Everybody get ready to say "Goodbye!"

For Dr. Insandonuts' final boss battle, you know I had to use Megalovania (Halloween Hack)! This remix, by Frakture, is the best version I could find. It's so good, even DeltaTraveler used it! I don't have much to say about this song, it's just really good. The feel of it fits a final boss very well. As soon as my Undertale-fan player saw the doctor, he called out, "Do it. Play MEGALOVANIA!!"
