The Chapters
#8 - Chapter 5 - Hot, Hot Times on Lavalava Island.
Very boring and not very memorable. I spent about an hour trying to find 1 Yoshi kid because one of the areas was so hard to find. The boss isn't fun either.
#7 - Chapter 7 - A Star Spirit on Ice.
Also not very memorable. The castle was so boring and unfun. However the boss was pretty good despite it being frustrating, and the murder mystery was really cool and fun.
#6 - Chapter 8 - A Star Powered Showdown!
This entire chapter is spent inside the castle, which felt kind of tedious. There was also a ton of backtracking. Not much else to say.
#5 - Chapter 2 - The Mystery of Dry, Dry Ruins.
A lot of it is very empty and barren. But I find the temple to be pretty enjoyable, as well as (this is probably controversial)the massive empty desert area. I also don't really have much else to say about this.
#4 - Chapter 3 - The "Invincible" Tubba Blubba.
Like the Yoshi kid scenario, I spent way too long in the forever forest. The enemies kept loading back in too, so i had to keep fighting them. The castle was pretty fun, but the actual boss was really underwhelming. The OP versions of normal enemies aren't fun either (they barely give you any XP too).
#3 - Chapter 1 - Storming Koopa Bros. Fortress.
A great 1st chapter. The castle is fun, and the Koopa bros. are such a cool character. I wish I actually got to fight them though.
#2 - Chapter 4 - Trials in the Toy Box.
I'm most likely bias because I'm a huge shy guy fan. I love all of the interesting and unique shy guys that appear, and i loved the mini boss and gourmet guy. While there is a lot of backtracking, I don't actually mind it much. It still provides a unique experience compared to going through the chapter normally. General guy was such a letdown though. I beat him in about 3 turns and he barely hurt me at all.
#1 - Chapter 6 - Dark Days in Flower Fields.
First of all, it's pretty cool how the magical seeds that you collect through-out the game are actually used to enter this chapter. I didn't think they would amount to much at first.
Second of all, I love how it's divided into six areas and the ways you actually have to unlock them. The characters are so interesting, fun and have such colorful and unique personalities. You also unlock lakilester, who is very useful for for going places (his cloud ability is very fast.) And in general I love the overall vibe of the area. It reminds me of Yoshi's Island. Definitely my favorite.
The Bosses
#8 - Lava piranha (Chapter 5)
Like i said, i hate this boss. it was boring, annoying, and it was also very hard to understand how to actually beat the boss. The mechanic where it bends down or whatever felt kind of meaningless. I also don't understand why Nintendo decided to pretend it died and then "revived" it again.
#7 - Tutankoopa (Chapter 2)
First of all, there was no foreshadowing or anything from it, you could only hear him saying stuff. It came out of no where. The boss itself was very frustrating, and it felt a little op. It also dragged out for too long.
#6 - General Guy (Chapter 4)
While the chapter is amazing, the boss is the opposite. It's so easy to beat. he barely did anything but hide in his cart and order actual shy guys to do the fighting. when you actually fight him he's a piece of cake. very underwhelming.
#5 - Tubba Blubba (Chapter 3)
Like General Guy, Tubba Blubba is a pushover. The actual fight with his heart thingy was cool, but i was expecting more out of him. It was about 2 hits and it was over. The heart stole the spotlight from the boss.
#4 Koopa Bros. (Chapter 1)
Really? I didn't get to fight the actual Koopa Bros.? I had prepared so many pow blocks.. Anyways, the fight isn't bad, but it's nothing special. Can't really say much about it.
#3 Bowser (Chapter 8)
Here's where the battles start getting good. His battle was challenging, but in a good way. It was also a bit frustrating, but it wasn't too bad. It is the final boss, after all. However I did find the whole invincibility thing a little pointless, since it essentially just took up 1 of Mario's turns and nothing else.
#2 Crystal King (Chapter 7)
While he is somewhat forgettable, it doesn't mean he's bad. The crystal mechanic is kind of the same as Huff & Puff's, But the attacking aspect of it is more fun. I also like the parts where he creates clones of himself. It reminds me of The lunatic cultist boss from Terraria. It wasn't really that frustrating, just fun.
#1 Huff & Puff (Chapter 6)
The whole thing leading up to him was super cool, and the overall boss is fire. The miniature versions of him that split up and make him smaller are cool, and it provides a really cool strategy aspect to the boss. I also like how the more the miniature versions there are, the more powerful their attacks get, since they're grouped together. In general It's a very unique and fun boss.
Thank you so much to the people who read all of this. And if you didn't that's OK too.

Oh yeah, by the way I beat Paper Mario 64
It's probably one of my favorite games
Here's my ranking and thoughts of the chapters + the bosses.

The 2024 remake of The Thousand-Year Door reconfirmed that Vivian is trans through a scene where she talks about how it took time for her to realize she was her brothers' sister and not their brother.
