Hello! Long time no see, I know.
Welcome to the devlog about Player vs. Player combat in the upcoming release of the game.
This is the first version of PvP, it's mostly focused on just...killing.
Let's start off with The Main Interface.
This is the first thing you see when you enter a battle.
It's basically the normal UT battle engine but with a different interface to make things a bit more interesting.
I added an option to chat by pressing [T] which I think is pretty cool.
- The Main Buttons -
FIGHT - It's pretty simple, just aim for the middle to get as much attack power as possible.
You can see that I dealt only 3 HP, that is because my weapon sucks.
(I messed up the gif, in reality it's faster.)
ACT - You get to choose from 3 simple options:
Check - displays simple information about your enemy (and their description).
Provoke - Increases your ATK for a few rounds.
Ease - Similar to provoke, increases your DEF instead.
Item - You can store up to 8 items at a time and use them whenever it's your turn.
There's not much space in the text box, so some of the item's names are shortened.
Mercy -
Well, it's just spare ._.
There's no point in getting into a battle to then run away from it. You either kill or get killed.
- Between The Turns -
After your round, comes the 'hard' part.
You have to dodge some hardcore and insane bullet attacks.
For now, these are pre-made by me but in the future, you will be able to create your own attacks:
This is a very early concept, in the future it's going to be more advanced and user-friendly, of course.
- Customization -
In PvP, there are a few things that can be customized.
These customizations are mostly just visual, to show how fancy and cool you are.
For example:
Souls of all the enemies that you've killed.
Cute and small falling stars.
Froggit n' Loox inc. - They're there to help you kick some ass.
These guys have a special ability that I won't reveal because I'm scared of them.
Your background is not the only thing that you can change.
These slides present all the themes that are going to be present in the first versions.
I know, it's really not much for now but in the future, I plan on adding more.
(Of course, your enemy is going to see what customizations you have.)
- Rewards -
Upon winning a battle, you get rewarded with some GOLD and WEXP.
The amount of GOLD depends on how long the battle was and how much damage you dealt and took, pretty simple.
WEXP on the other hand is something slightly different.
It stands for Warrior Experience, with this will be able to buy SOUL UPGRADES which are going to make you even more powerful and even more unstable.
With WEXP you are also able to buy PETS, which are going to be explained in the future, final progress report devlog.
- Conclusion -
Yup, that's pretty much it. I might've forgotten about some small details, but if you have any questions make sure to post a comment.
I am aware that I am very late with everything (once again), that is because I had a break which I really needed. Now I am back to finishing the first version of this project and soon, finally uploading it to the internet.
Thanks to @LaytonsGal for making the amazing banner for this devlog, and thank you for reading.
