With Paula saved, and Happy Happy Village restored, it was finally time to return to Twoson. The party left the hotel but was surprised to find a Happy Happyist at the door waiting for them. It was Marco, the cultist that John had talked with during their battle. He stopped by to thank John for his help, and gave him a Cup of Life Noodles. After that friendly encounter, the party entered the tunnel they had come through to reach the village.
They walked past the rocky walls of the tunnel. They walked through the darkness it shed. They walked along the uneven terrain. They walked... wait... why are they still walking? Why did the tunnel seem much longer than it did before? Peering up ahead, there didn't even seem to be an end.
Vike remarked that he couldn't see, which was surprising, considering he has night vision. Jeffeus and Cyrus could see through it, but even then, there was nothing to see except... stars...
In a flash, it was all suddenly gone. They could see, but what they saw disturbed them. The floor was made of piping that pulsed like veins. The air was dry and ash fell like snowflakes. In the distance, screams and crying could be heard. Everything had completely shifted from whimsical to a nightmare. This was not the same place.
Stars could be seen outside the bus windows.
I will warn you, the next post might be a surprise to you. It is also, REALLY long, so prepare yourself.
