Game
(WIP) Things That Lurk in the Dark

Sorry for the time of absence. We've been busy with some family stuff, along with game development. We wanted to finish a good portion of our list before reporting, so here's what's up!

Save Game~ The game will now save and load the map and location the player was in, the map data, batteries, and flashlight percentage. There is only one save slot right now. We will look into doing multiple for the branching paths, we have set up, but it's not set in stone yet.

Factory~ The factory map has been started. The first floor has been created and decorated. We do need to get a couple models and get items in place for characters to pick up. The factory map will be finished toward release when the branching paths are being completed.

Forest~ The forest map has been overhauled. We've optimized the map and reformed the land to make it rougher. the paths have been redone, so it shouldn't look as awkward as before. A variety of trees are now in the map, along with flowers, grass, and rocks to add some more variety to the world. The exterior has been started and nearly completed. We still have some decoration to finish like weathering, windows, and anything else we see that may help. The lighting isn't currently built so it doesn't look as pretty. Lighting will be rebuilt once it's completed so it won't take 5 hours twice.

Main Menu~ The main menu was originally meant to be a place holder for our code so we can test out our systems. The new menu has been overhauled, using a smoother, refined font, better animations, more options, and a beautiful background. Drew worked pretty hard to get the main menu to look the way it does, and his design turned out better than the concept art.

Flashlight/Batteries~ Using your flashlight will now use batteries. The current UI is very rudimentary, but it's effective. Batteries will be scattered around the map for the player to collect. We're going to test how fast the batteries are going will drain during use, so the drain speed will vary; but it's currently at 100 seconds to reach 0%. You can see the basic UI system in the photos with the forest.

Contacting our internet provider today, but we're still working! We are working on character, story, and map design even without the capability of UE4. We are using Minecraft since it has a nearly perfect unit conversion rate. Stay tuned for more updates!
